Here is an Orky Deathwing list supporting Meganobz and their termy-qualities. (Minus the invul and stormshields). I hope to create a fun small ork army that bases itself around the metal hunchbacks! I want a break from my horde-air force, with this deffwing as a nice change of scenery and a good opprotunity for modelling madness. This is meant to be extremely fun and a bit competitive. HQ Ghaz MegaBoss w/ attack squig, bosspole, cybork Troop Meganobz x3 -Trukk w/ armour plates, rokkit launcha, ram Meganobz x3 -trukk w/ armour plates, rokkit launcha, ram Gretchin, runtherd Elite Meganobz x3 trukk w/ armour plates, rokkit launcha, ram Meganobz x3 trukk w/ armour plates, rokkit launcha, ram Fast attack (Da Wingz) deffkoptaz x3 w/ rokkitz deffkoptaz x3 w/ rokkitz deffkoptaz x3 w/ rokkitz Tactics- The Good ol' Ghaz and Warboss take seperate mobz and ride as a spearhead, the other two flank the sides. The deffkoptas buzz around messing enemy armour and protecting the trukks. Grots sit back on objectives OR play out a tactical infiltration and thwart the enemy dreads. This list is not perfect, so I need suggestions. Mainly on composition and if the koptas should trade out for boomwagons while spending the saved points on kombi-rokkits. All C&C welcome!

Well I'm not sure if the deffkopta scout turbo boost attack still works, but if it does your list will be much stronger. However, I think your list could be easily stopped in the AV10 transports. Meganobz are also extra slow, so if their ride gets popped their stuck slogging in the open with no invul.
I'd suggest combining squads and invest into battlewagons. More reliable to stay alive, and your deffkoptas to watch vulnerable flanks. I don't think you need Ghazzy, you could degrade to a normal MegaBoss to save points.

Yeah, I considered not taking Ghaz. I think I am trying to field a Mega-list, lead by the mega-armoured special character.
I know that battle wagons are the way to go in all cases, but everyone does that. Besides, I already have one trukk and could scratchbuild more!
The thing with trukks is that they can zip across the board far faster than their cousin. Making up for the lack fo armour. Do not get me wrong, I see what you are saying, but.....actually that may be the way to go..... but with Battlewagons, there are only two targets as opposed to four.
Since I have the gretchin as a troops, should I ditch one of the bosses for a KFF to ride in a vehicle to give 4+ hull-downs all around? This could be for either list.

Well, as a themed list, it.......you're gonna field some trukk scrap piles..../sigh.
Why only two battlewagons? I've got a 1500 point list with 5 battlewagons, 2 of which are meganobz. It's ridiculous.
Honestly, other than the trukks, my big problem with this list are those deffkoptas. For 105 points you can field 3 rokkit buggies that will last longer. Without the buzzsaw, the buggies are superior. Even with the buzzsaw, it's a crap shoot.
The list will get tabled for lack of manpower, but run with it and have fun. If you're going to run nothing but meganobz, you'll never have enough models on the field to take on competitive armies, but you should leave some scars on them

Thank you Brother Taurinus for your words of support.
Deffkoptas are what I got, trukks I like better than battlewagons. If not trukks, taking looted wagons.
For manpower, I can fill cracks in with gretchin, loads and loads of gretchin.....not really "fill" cracks, just bloat the heck out of them.
I am thinking , to help with the problem of power-weapons, taking Grotsnik instead of the warboss. He plays the same role and allows everybody (even grots) to take 5++ and a squad FNP.

I totally understand fielding what you've got, but this is how we plan for what we're going for also.
I started out with trukks. I do like them, they just get popped, and also don't deliver the size of squads necessary to deal with..... SW and CSM for example, because they have pistols and CCW along with their bolters(so 2 CC attacks) and counterattack on the SW.
I've seem some guys(and it's on my own to do list)to convert koptas into rokkit buggies. remove the blades and the arm, the skids too, and add 4 wheels. There you go
I play Budgethammer 40k, and in friendly games I proxy where I don't have the official model. Many of us have to in order to try new units without spending 30-150 bucks just to try the unit out.
I'd be tempted to drop a few deffkoptas for more meganobz though. You've got 10 meganbz worth of koptas  They look great, and you want to hum "Ride of the Valkyries" when you field all those koptas, but they don't quite pay for themselves, unfortunately. I've seen 10 fielded to use up points.
Either way I like the theme, and particularly the Grotsnik idea for the CB. I despise the GK Codex, and while I won't quite call cheese...just.....yuck. All power weapons.....they will be your nightmare and steal the thunder out from under you.

I know full well of the deffkopta to warbuggy conversions.  Just I do not want to touch my "Fly Boyz". (they are from my "Arrer Forz" list)
If I did do warbuggies, I would paint the vehicles green give one ork a red cap, another a brimmed hat and call em "Da Rat Patrol"
Could looted wagons be a sound transport in this list? They cost the same as trukks in points, and are scratchbuilt in life. I was thinking of the list above concerning looted wagons.
I had an idea for if meganobz had outflank to put them in trukks and shoot them onto the board from reserve like Meganob-Missiles, coming from all directions.

If you're insisting on looted wagons, it's a theme list.
All the original Battlewagons were scratchbuilt because GW wasn't producing the models. 4 out of 5 of mine are scratchbuilt.
The problem with trukks and looted wagons in games above 1000 points is that there is too much firepower for them to survive.
True, looted wagons have AV11 and are immune to small arms fire(barring Tau), but they still only carry 12 models, and quite frankly, mobs of 12 are more or less throw-away and good for a single assault. Afterwards, you're left with a small mob that must assist others. Remember, when a trukk or wagon explodes, you're going to take 3-4 wounds and be stuck footslogging.
You just don't see looted wagons used as transports because it''s a heavy slot, and those are used for battlewagons
Honestly, what is your aversion to battlewagons? They're very effective, and in mechanized lists are what make Ork lists competitive.

Actually my Roscovian XIII Regiment of Imperial Guard do not initially use meltaguns. Sure there is one or two, but the rest is grenade launchers. My list has enough AT to not worry about giving the infantry focused beams of tanning salon power.
I know full well how people had to make their own stuff, like the deo-bottle hammerhead and such. That is what I designed for my chimeras and my baneblade!
(making them out of cheap plastic army men tanks)
I just do not really want to do battlewagons, that is all.

If you insist on not taking wagons, and still want to have a chance to win, then invest as little points in each truck as possible to provide more targets of saturation. For e.g.
Ghaz - 225
KFF Mek - 85
3 MANz (skorcha, rokkit), truck - 165
3 MANz (skorcha, rokkit), truck - 165
3 MANz (skorcha, rokkit), truck - 165
3 MANz (skorcha, rokkit), truck - 165

Interesting advice, thanks, but I am having a pure mega-list, so no boys. (Grots are an exception). But that is somethign to think about with all those transports

Okay okay, I'm sorry, I'll drop the battlewagons
Mmmmm.... Manz only, and only trukks and looted wagons.
If you go first, you're better off with them in the trukks for the flat out move. We all know how quickly AV10 and 11 will pop, especially open topped. At least the trukks will get you further out there.
Going with this idea, I'd field 9 rokkit buggies to screen the trukks and provide a obscured save, since you don't have the kffs.
I say the buggies because they last a bit longer than koptas. You could take a mix of both.
Extra points could be spent on big gunz if you don't mind them(grot gunners!).

My problem with Mega Nobz is that there is no way to give them an invul short of doc grotsnick, which by the why I think you should consider fielding him.
I like deff koptas, but I would consider 2 or 3 units of 1 kopta w/ buzzsaw and big shoota so you can maize you Mega Nobz.

Well, if you're going straight 'Theme' by copying the Deathwing, you'll want units of 5 Meganobz in Battlewagons, Grotsnik, Ghazkhull and a unit of Grots (dey'z da 'seekas in da dark')
One Meganob in each mob has a Kombi-Rokkit, and one has a Kombi-Flamer, and the Battlewagons are open-topped with 4x Big Shootas.

All these suggestions and great input are extremely helpful. Cheers to you all! I know that for an exact deffwing, it would be taking battlewagons... but this is a copy that is not a copy. (as far as battlewagons are concerned.) I love all this input as it really gets me thinking! -I have been considering Grotsnik to add that buffer of invuls and FNP. Besides, he has a PK and is so boss enough to be an exception of the MANZ only rule. -When kitting out the looted wagons, I would take grot-riggers, armourplates, and at least a rokkit. Maybe red-paint for that boost of speed, but why not just take trukks for that? -Deffkoptas are all rokkit-equipped and two squadrons act as hopping gun-platforms, and the third outflanks for rear-armour messing or to take out long range support. -Warbuggies are so cool, but I prefer deffkoptas as thye are a personal favorite. -Grots are, well, Grots.....anythign more to be said? -Ghaz is to be taken for his Waaagh and power in combat. (And he has mega-armour!)
