I'm working on my Daemon Prince of Slaanesh. I'm using a Reaper Giantess as a base, and then adding bits from the Daemon Prince Plastic Box. Incase you are curious, this is the army list that I'm using http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/437393.page

The model still has a lot of work needed, and I'm not even posting a picture of the back because its a mess right now, but I'm really happy with how it is coming along. I'm going to post here to hopefully pick up some advice as to what I can reasonably do to improve this model. Naturally (s)he'll be a centerpiece so its important that I get this to turn out to the best of my ability.

front view. I am strongly considering replacing the big sword with a Tyranid Lash Whip. Because you know... Lash of Submission.

side view, mainly so you can see the knee joints

Anyway, this conversion still has a long way to go, but I'm having a lot of fun with it. I'm still considering whether to add horns to her face- wrapping down in front like mandibles. The waist area needs a lot of work as well. I like the DP cloth but its just glued on right now, some GS filling / shaping needs to be done to really make it work.

Instead of replacing the sword, I'd just put the whip in the other hand.

It looks good in my mind anyway.

I think this is a really awesome Princess! a whip would make it more Slaanesh-ish, but a chick with a sword is a sweet idea too, so maybe take both like Rigeld2 suggested.

Also, you should put some Slaanesh markings maybe replace the face on the loin cloth with a symbol from the Chaos Vehicle Accessories kit. (Trust me it will fit nice) or carve some out of Green stuff.

Keep up the great work!

The sword blade is slightly crooked from the hilt. So if you do keep it, I'd tilt it just a little to her right...

Sorry, I have OCD like that.

I like it though, and I would add some sort of horns.

It looks awesome. If metal wasn't such a turd to work with I'd suggesting filing off one of her breasts, but resculpting a pectoral and making the bikini still work just seems more tedious than fun.

The other side of the coin is that the model I'm using as a base is the P-65, line so you know, 60% lead. Some clipping / filing is obviously necessary for the conversion, but I'm trying to avoid uneccessary filing to keep the lead dust floating about my appartment to a minimum

Yea, the sword is still pretty rough. I'll get that straightened out. I'm going to see if I can scrounge up a whip today as well.

Not bad, interested to see how this actually turns out. Might turn out to be inspiration for Daemon Princes later.

Got a bit of work done on her over the last few days. I'm probably going to stop progress on her for a little while. Put some noise marines together so that I can play a 500-1000 point game next tuesday.

Anyway, added some horns (clipped from horns in the D/P box). Also added an oldschool Tyranid Lash whip from my FLGS's bitz box. Pretty simple hand swap, but I like the way it looks. I also fixed up the sword a little, I think its more centered right now.

EDIT:

I built a few marines, but now I need to go do homework. Anyway, I've taken another picture to demonstrate the scale. I know a lot of times looking at these its tough as hell to figure out how big anything is.

So here is DP standing in between my converted Lord (MoS, Wings, Daemon Weapon [the guitar strapped to his back], Combi Weapon) and newly built Noise Champion (Doom Siren, Power Weapon)

I haven't really had a chance to work on the conversion aspect of the army as much as I'd like to, and ultimately I've hit another roadblock on my way to begining the painting process. I now desire to make my Noise Marines more interesting!

I figured the ones not holding any sonic weaponry really have no way to distinguish themselves from regular CSM. So I decided to make them a bit more slaaneshi. What I ended up doing was I purchased a box of Daemonettes today, and spliced them a bit.

What results is my Noise Marine having a nice ass, showing a bit of skin, and standing slightly taller. The biggest problem to me is that the torso still seems too large. I do like that its more interesting then a generic CSM model however.

I got the Chaos Bug again after the FAQ let daemon weapons be ap2, and monsterous creatures fly. I still have to deal with this Wings making my lord jump infantry, so he can't ride in a rhino, and so I now need some raptors for him to roll with. So I picked up a Scourge Box (since its a bit cheaper than finecast raptors and has great wings) and got to work doing some converting. This is my Icon Bearer, I cannot remember where that icon comes from, probably the battleforce... the hand holding the stick is from the daemonette kit though...

the icon is in every 10 box of csm that comes with a champion sprue. Otherwise awsome slanneshi marines

That makes sense, since the battleforce does come with a generic csm squad.

Anyway I got 6 Raptors on bases. They still need some GS work here and there, but the bulk of the work is done.

Here is one of the generic bp+ccw raptors,

A Melta Gun, a Flamer (I ran out of melta guns lol), and another bullet catcher

And with their Power Sword wielding Aspiring Champ that brings their numbers up to 6! the sacred number of Slaanesh

Loving your work on this so far. This is going to be a very cool army once painted up. What are you planning for the color scheme?

Thanks Eldarain and Cyvash for the enthusiasm, I'm pretty much using this army to practice converting things and my modeling in general, so to hear that you like it means a lot to me, since I'm still largely a noob at this.

Eldarain wrote:What are you planning for the color scheme?

As for color scheme,
I had painted up my Chaos Lord for an HQ Arena of Death, but since then I've torn him apart a bit and reworked some of his conversions, namely giving him another hand and incorporating the combi melta into the Guitar Daemon Weapon. The image of him shattering a Land Raider with a Power Chord is too good.

His paint scheme I think is still what I want to go for though, the Dark Green with Pink Trim. I tried to go for a lightning effect across his armor but I kind of mucked that up.

Anyway, I definitely need to get some more layers of paint on him, since he now has new plastic parts going on. But the general idea is still there.

Lightning effects can definitely be tricky.

With such a striking theme it might be too much going on. I'd try and just get him done in your chosen scheme and then see if you think it's needed after.

Do you have a lightbox or anything else you can take photos in? The conversions are looking awesome, but some of the photos are a bit dark and hard to make out the details in.

The conversion work looks good, but that base model is just kinda boring. Looks too much like a fat barbarian chick.

http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/previews/latest/77162

Now that looks a lot more slaaneshi. Good looking chick bent over!

oh yea! that model is awesome, If I need to make a second daemon prince I will definitely look to use that model! It hasn't come out yet, and I had no idea it was coming out back in April when I got the base model originally.

Sorry about the quality of the pictures, I don't really have any equipment to improve their quality. Whats the cheapest way I can buy / make a light box, or just a way to take better pictures in general?

Download the free editing software Gimp. Then search for Ifalna's tutorial on here. Very helpful.

Gimp is a great program; I actually need to try out the steps in that tutorial myself. For taking the initial photos, I use the photo studio kit Thinkgeek sells, although you could probably take a look at it and figure out how to do it with what you have around the house-I think the key is good lighting and a blank backdrop. So if you have a clean white sheet to drape over something and some small flexible lamps, you should be good to go.
