Here we go! As a first post I recon that the latest project I finished work.

As his tactical squad made it's way through the burnt out buildings of the Hive city, sergeant Rah'kei tried once again to reach his Captain for further orders, but something was causing havoc on the coms and all he could hear was static. The forces of Chaos had struck hard on this world, several of it's major cities obliderated in a few days, the PDF that had not turned renegade slaughtered. So the call had gone out to the Space Marines of the Ash Dragons chapter, proud decendants of Vulkan, to purge the planet in holy flame.

One of his men at point gave a quick signal, and the squad squatted down behind whatever cover was at hand. Through the smoke a great wall came into view, the gate for what had once been the main armoury of the city. If they could destroy the wealth of weapons and ammunition stored within it would be a dire blow against the enemy forces. But Rah'kei knew that such a place would have defences that not even his squad of marines could overcome, and their weapons would not even scratch the surface of the gate, no matter how many bolts they fired from the heavy bolter battle-brother Erahg was carrying.

Finally the static cleared from the coms, and the sergeant heard his captains voice once more in his ear. Quickly he gave report, and requested support from a squad with heavy weapons that would be able to breach the wall. There was a moment of silence then he heard a chuckle and the captain replied
"I will grant you something even better old friend, eta in 90 seconds."

A minute passed, suddenly three booms split the air and the ground shook as the gate vanished in a raging inferno. Behind them sergeant Rah'kei saw the smoke part before a rolling wall, a giant white aquila above a field of flames moving forward. His sergeant had indeed sent something better, he had sent Invictus.
Three huge barrels lit up as the squadron of Vindicators fired a second salvo at the armoury, reducing everything in their path to ruin.

Waiter, there seems to be an OMG THAT IS AMAZING in my soup.

On track: The cleanliness is top notch. Your highlights are solid and do well to keep the mini from being over populated with them, considering the amount of edges on such a model. The green is fantastic and the flames look great. I really enjoy the addition of the effects on the guns.

love the color scheme and the paint job looks super clean. the weapon effects bug me, though. from the back they look great and it's obvious what they're meant to be, but from the front and side they remind me of some sort of chaos mutation. could just be the photos, though. beautiful work regardless!

Very simply: that's just darn cool.
I like tying the squadron together with the work on the Dozer blade. I haven't seen anyone do projectiles in action yet from a Vindicator.

The only thing I can think of.. is if you could make the barrel seem likes its smoking as well I know.. its really unneccassary, but could be a future thought.

I would leave those models completely alone though, because they are excellent the way they are.

The three way eagle on the front of these is just inspired.

These are great. Really solid color scheme for the vindi's.

Fantastic job mate, I love the Aquilla spread across the front, I always like a bit of added fluff as well.

Looks really awesome! Wish I had thought of that... I painted all three of my Salamanders Vindicators dozer blades with a different "flame, lava, meteor" theme to it. Yours is much cooler.

Very nice, I like do the flame effects. One thing though...the first vindi on the left looks like it's turtling (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=turtling). Heh, it does look a bit weird to me with the shell head just poking out. The other two firing effects are well done though.

Varl: They are my first attempts at "special effects" on tanks, so they're not perfect, but I'm happy with the results in general!

Njpc: I might just have to do that to the next Vindicator, as a stage 4, after the gun has fired, and there's just a thin stream of smoke coming out of the barrel (que Clint eastwood to blow it away).

Mattyrm: Yeah I try to add a little fluff for flavor in my posts of finished units. Makes it a bit more fun I think!

OverwatchCNC: You have yours posted here on dakka? Would love to see them!

DIDM: Yeah, I noticed that right after as well, d'oh... I'll go over and fix it sometime, but it's such a minor thing that I didn't bother right away.

Eggroll: You are not the first one to mention it actually xD A friend of mine has started refering to the tank as the poop-cannon.....

Are those salamander bikes I see
I ran a salamanders army in the last codex edition, and ran 2 bike squads, manly people ironically complained about them saying it wasn't fluffy.

My response: really? i've got 2 melta guns and a multi melta bike that says your Landraider is about to be fluffy !

That... must be the most awesome linebreaker formation I have ever seen. You did an incredible job on the aquila! Illustrated siege shields do often look exaggerated, but that is definately not the case here.

Regarding the sculpted effects, I was never a fan of artificial flames and stuff, but again you made it look and feel good. Like icing on a cake.

Those are awesome. The imperial eagle split between the shields is a really unique awesome idea. Nice work
