Another 5 man squad done. Sorry about the crappy purple/pink background on the group shot, I need to make up a new backsheet, but my printer's out of ink. Some misbehaviour from the chapter symbol decals, which will need a glaze of the base colour and revarnish here and there. Anyway, pics:

Don't block-quote an entire enormous post only to respond to it with one or two relatively miniscule lines. Thanks. -Mannahnin

As always top notch work, if only I could paint half as good as that haha

How long have you been doing model painting? I've only been into it less than a year, so I'm still very, very n00bish lol

Camouflage is the colour of fear... I have no need to hide from my foes... I have no fear of death. My colours I wear openly, they proclaim louder than any words, "I am proud to live - I am proud to die" :

They look great. I bet you have a very happy customer. Do you mind me asking how long a squad like that takes you? Thanks.

Beautiful!

winterdyne, would you care to explain your battle-damage methods? T'would love to begin applying such things to my own Marines.

Sure, it's pretty simple. Put a dark line where you want the scratch to be, then highlight under it with a lighter one. For larger dents and chips, do the light colour first, as this is always the smaller area and you can simply paint over it with the darker colour to tighten the highlight. Very fine scratches you can simply do with a very fine light line.

On the yellow I used GW scorched brown and VMC Light Yellow. On the red, a mix of VMC Burnt Cadmium red and GW Chaos black, highlighted with VMC Panzer Aces New Wood (A light orange/brown),

these are gorgeous!! i think i have seen your terminator squad like this on CMON at one point in time. They are on bases with very similar plant foliage, thats how i remembered them was that one plant in the foliage.

How are you making the plants?? is it brass etched, or what?

very sharp work-

Wow, they look fantastic! Quite an inspiration for me, since I'm about to start painting BA.

stubacca- it'd help keep the thread a lot more readable if you didn't quote the entire OP full of pics in the first reply

I LOVE these guys. I have to know.

What colors did you use for the armor and what colors for the helms? I've been having such a hard time with the yellow of the helms.

Also, what color did you prime?

ChrisWWII wrote:I eventually realized that it was apparently one die I had been rolling that kept turning up 3s. My reaction was to take said die, and hurl it out the window of the 3rd floor of our student union. I then placed a Commissar model next to the rest of my dice pile. They immediately began performing much better.

The models are primed with Vallejo German Red-brown polyurethane primer through an airbrush. Just neat, no need to thin.

Then an airbrush zenithal pass with blood red, then blood red with VMC Panzer aces New Wood added. Finally, pure New Wood. This is mostly to provide a guide for proper highlighting later on. I'm pretty sure I could have cut an hour's work by not doing it, but an hour over the whole army isn't a great deal, and the guide is useful even when you know where the highlights must go.

These two stages are done on all the models in the army, and are basically my primer / undercoat.

The red is highlighted by layering with (thin) Blood red, Blood red mixed with VMC Panzer Aces New Wood, and VMC Burnt Cadmium Red to settle things down. A hair dryer helps here. Edges are picked out in pure VMC PA New Wood, then edged back with a mix with blood red to keep them neat.

The black is my usual recipe - black base, then 50-50 black/codex grey (all over), edges with codex grey then glaze back down the progression to smooth.

The yellow is GW Iyanden darksun, washed sepia, retouched with darksun again, then VMC Flat Yellow, Light Yellow and Ice Yellow highlights.

The plants are brass etch from atenociti's workshop. The flower head is just model railway ballast superglued on. A CA accelerator is really useful to make sure it's surface cured before you hit it with a paintbrush.

Every time... Every, single time you manage to amaze me with your work

The highlighting in the scripture seems to be a little thickish, but the rest is magnificent.
