I am converting three I.G. Tallarn rough riders/cavalry into I.G./Heretic scout sentinels due to the base size and profile being the same as a sentinel rather than a rough rider. They are marketed as Imperial Guard cavalry by Forge World. I want to play my army in tournament some day but they are much larger than the DKOK rough riders in my army.
So my question is this;
Would you accept this model as, (or play this model as) a scout sentinel? What about in tournament?
No?
please explain; not wysiwyg enough? not correct LOS? ETC..
Thanks

for comparison here are some unaltered models in the intended form.

It will be up to the TO in the end. I would not have a problem and many would not as well. Unfortunately there are some who lok for anything to complain about (especially if you win). So before taking it to a tournament check with the TO.

Yes, yes I would.

For a few reasons:

1. It's way cool.
2. It's about the same size and looks wysiwyg enough to me, and fits the army.
3. It's way cool.

Although darknightwing is right, in tourney play, some people will complain about anything at all. So just clear it with the TO (Who should be OK with it due to the above reasons).

In friendly play, if someone doesn't want to play because of that model, it should prove that you probably don't want to be playing against them.

I can't say with 100% certainty since I don't have a side-by-side height comparison. If they're the same height, or very close, and it had the appropriate weapon, than definitely.

Its a cool conversion that comes at the cost of not taking 3 vendettas so the to will probably see it as a welcome sight.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Since Vendettas can be taken n squadrons, there is no "cost" there

But I'd still definitely say yes, it's an amazing model.

1. Fits an army theme which helps with 'rule of cool'
2. Same physical profile so no basesize/LOS issues
3. WYSIWYG weapons
4. Can't be easily confused for any other unit option in the same list (like a jetbike being a TWC or a Bike)
5. Cool model, effort was put into it which helps with 'rule of cool'
6. Not the META OPTIMUM unit choice so no shoehorning a random model into a metalist build

I can't see any legitimate reasons why this model could be frowned upon. It is a great example of 'counts as' and a conversion considerate of opponents by being almost invisible to in-game complications.

Looks like it's on the same base, it's about the same proportions as a sentinel and the weapon is obvious.

I'd have no problem at all (friendly or tournament). Also well done on the model, it looks awesome.

@Mannahnin,grendel083 and others ,Base size is exact. I'm not actually sure what the exact height on a sentinel is in centimeters. I tried to look it up but haven't found anything yet. So I looked at pictures for comparison. I could add an antenna or banner to match though.
Anyone want to measure a sentinel and share the data?
@nkelsch,you covered that pretty well, I'm not trying to make a powerful unit, just one that fits the most. (Im a bit of a fluffmonkey!) but now Im worried that people wont accept my Valkyrie talon as a Vendetta(looked up shoehorning,but it's not like they would accept it dropping a tauros venator either ).
@Sasa0mg, I thought about adding camo netting to hide the lack of armor as I mostly have orky bits not I.G. bits... Add camo netting to cover the lack of armor, or just say they have tough hides?
@The_Happy_Pig,I like reason 3,no reason 1. Good point about not playing them.
@Everybody, Thanks for the kind words. It's great to hear that you can see work went into it. I feel better about packing it up with the army and showing it to the TO.
The 2nd is lascannon mounted and the 3rd has a grenade launcher with an optional mounting hole on the back. here is the wip;

Ha,perfect! The tops of the driver's heads are all at 7cm, so that should be an easy fix with a banner or antenna. Thanks

I tend to play rule of cool, and those are most def cool (even if at first glance it looked like some kind of weird centaur with a MASSIVE penis), so yeah, I'd have no probs as long as everything was cleared up berforehand. Nice model.
