I'm interested in what everyone's favorite/most used model is? And why. You can base your answer on how the model looks, how it plays on the table, the fluff behind it, and heck you can even select a whole unit if your favorite "model" is part of a squad. For example, mine is a Plague Marine. I love how they look, especially in Finecast (even though I hate the material and casting sometimes). I also love how they function in game. I only ever take one, sometimes two squads of em, and usually to plunk their putrid bums down on an objective and give my buddy a heck of a time kickin' em off.

Anyway, what is your favorite model/unit and why?

I don't have a favourite model by looks, way too many to chose from and looking from all my options would take too long.

However, my favourite model is my old edition farseer with the spear. That guy has been with me since the beginning and has got such a story behind him. I remember all his amazing kills, less his failures. I even remember the time he opened up a GK LR with his spear back in 4th ed.

Ah yes the Champ is a great model (both rules and sculp). I'm glad they released him in Finecast as the detail on him is amazing. I would love to see a great paint job on it in person.

Definitely my Leman Russ Executioner (mid way through painting)

I love how the model looks, its based on the Russ Demo frame and the Executioner Cannon so awesome with all the plasma-y death it can spit out!

I use it in almost every game and it has never been out right destroyed. It's really good at clearing heavy troops and has even been known to take on light vehicles too.

I field Executioners too in my Guard army. They are my favorite Leman Russ. Slapping on the extra plasma sponsons for more killy dedness is always a must for me. A. it looks awesome, B. 40 points for 2 more shots has always paid for itself every time I do it. I've destroyed entire squads of Termies in a single shooting phase, and I do it pretty regularly. It is the Guard's greatest asset against the abundance of Termie lists in my opinion.

I like Typhus too. I don't have a model yet as I'm still expanding my Chaos collection but as soon as I get some more Nurgle stuff, I'll definately get a Typhus (I'm also kinda clinging to the hope that they release him in Finecast )

I have another favorite....the Night Lords Hero model. I think its OOP but it's on the GW site in Chaos SM HQ's.

the carnifex; I like how they look and I like the fact that they eat tanks for breakfast in the background stories. I remember in the previous edition when they could take out half an army.

I use em with Mycetic Spores to get em close to enemy tanks quickly, hiding him behind my spore (which I made big enough to conceal my fex, hey I can do that....no model specs for the spore exist to my knowledge) so tanks have to shoot at my spore to get to my fex, thus keeping him alive til he can assault.

I'd say best model made in decades is probably trygon, but to each their own

I actually like the Mawloc build better, though I like the Trygon's rules. I usually field my Mawloc as a Trygon and people don't mind.

No defects? You are a rare breed. My first Finecast was a Tau Sniper Drone set and when I got it home, one of the stupid guns was already broken in half Then the next one I got was Ursarkar Creed, which was good for the most part but had a hole in his coat on the righthand side. A HOLE!!!! lol. Little bit-o-green stuff fixed him up not problem, but still.
