Hi Dakka,

I am new to the hobby but wanted to share some of my Tyranids. I'm not completely new to miniature painting. I painted a few miniatures many years ago for Dungeons and Dragons, but these are my first painted miniatures in many years and my first Warhammer 40k miniatures i've ever painted.

I've also made a few small terrain pieces.

Let me know what you think.

Enjoy!

Cool army. Really distinctive color scheme. Nice to see something besides the usual 3.

GENERATION 7: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

Great looking. I love the black and white. Its great to see that you switched up the scheme on different models. You didn't just paint all the heads one way. Great job man, Can't wait to see more.

You're a lot better at painting than you let on, These are freaking awesome. The black and white gives them a kind of 'real' feeling, unlike some other custom hive fleets. Great work

Great looking Tyranids, the sceme seems so much more natural than any others that I have seen, great job.

It's "realistic" for space monsters, but a little dry..boring one might say..

They are very good looking bugs. I like the colours and patterns you have chosen for them and how you've applied them.

I suggest you do one thing though. You haven't painted the eyes properly. I think that you should paint the eyes because it will really make them pop and at the moment it's the only thing that lets them down.

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. They have been really fun to paint!

There are still a lot of details I still need to add like the eyes. The bases are bit plain, but I like the overall effect.

Here are few more.

The brain on your zoanthrope really caught my eye, how did you paint it? Great job on the rest of the swarm!

Excellent work, a really natural feel that makes them look altogether more believable. I'm also keen on the amount of blending thats going on here- much more than I care to invest and its paid off. Nice.

Really great painting. I like your color scheme. The colors have awesome synergy, no vibrant clashing of various colors that make your head spin. Keep up the good work.

Here are few more pictures from the same set i've dug up. Since taking all these photos a while back I've added several more models to my army, including a Venomthrope, a Broodlord, and a few more warriors. I'll try to get pictures of them up in the future.

Love it all, you've got a sizable swarm already. How much more are you planning to do in the near future?

I still have 15 Termagants, 7 more Genestealers, and three warriors to finish. One of those warriors is going to be coverted into a Tyranid Prime. I am waiting on some boneswords and magnets before I start that project, though. Then, finally, I will actually have a playable army.

Total, that will give me a Prime, 5 Warriors, 16 Genestealers, 16 Termagants, 16 Hormagants, 5 Ripper Swarms, 1 Zoanthrope, 1 Venomthrope, and 1 Broodlord. I still feel like I don't have enough troops, but I definitely need to get a monstrous creature in my army once I hit closer to 1000 points. I'm debating between a Tyrant or a Tervigon.
