Does anyone have links or info regarding Techmarines during and after the heresy? I can find plenty of source material for hereteks and members of the Dark Mechanicus but not so much regarding actual Techmarines of the Astartes.

I am thinking of converting and playing with the Techmarine Set for this month's project.

off the top of my head, I don't recall coming across a traitor tech marine in any of the fluff I've read (chaos space marine stories from black library, etc.). seems like anytime the forces of chaos need some techie stuff done, they roll out a dark mechanicus tech priest or two.

should be easy enough to wing it, though, if you've got an assortment of chaos bits floating around. add some icons, spikes and skulls and presto! chaos! :p would love to see pics when you get something together.

cheers,

v

Figured as much due to my own complete lack of encountering... I am of the understanding that most Chaplains at the time of the heresy were built into the Word Bearers, the other Legions not really picking up on the position until some time later.

Is this the same for Techmarines perhaps albeit within another legion instead of the Word Bearers?

from the fluff I've read, it seems like each chapter has a handful of techmarines. more artificer-oriented chapters like the iron hands and salamanders may have a few more, but I don't think they originated from any specific chapter. I am far from an expert on these matters, though

The main reference for chaotic techmarines seems to be the Iron Warriors warsmiths. Nothing seems to indicate that other legions didn't have them, just that the Iron warriors were the most prevalent users of them. All the legions would ahve had technically minded marines responsible for uipkeep of their kit, just like they all had apothecaries responsible for the upkeep of their troops.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

well, the archetypal "During the Heresy" Techmarine is Arius, who is serving as the basis for my own steampunk Death Guard techmarines.
