Forge World wrote:
Hi there,
With the dust of the Forge World Open Day settling, we’re excited to announce that three of the pre-release kits we had on sale are now available to pre-order. We’ve also got a reminder about our presence at Salute 2012, for which we are currently taking reservation orders.
Space Marine Storm Eagle Gunship
The legendary mobility of the Adeptus Astartes has won planet-spanning conflicts with a single strike; providing the precise application of deadly force at the point where it proved most decisive. A Chapter’s fleet of attack craft is the keystone that makes this possible, and it is the iconic Thunderhawks and Drop Pods that are at the forefront. Craft such as the Storm Eagle Assault Gunship follow close behind to lend their weapons to the devastating assault.
A formidable gunship, the Storm Eagle mounts fearsome firepower for a vehicle of its size and is capable of transporting twenty Space Marines directly into the thick of an assault. The exact provenance of the Storm Eagle is unknown, but it bears clear similarities to the Stormravens employed by the Blood Angels and Grey Knights. Certain sources place the principal manufacture of the Storm Eagle upon Tigrus and Anvilus IX, both primary-grade Forge Worlds that suffered catastrophic damage during the Horus Heresy.
In recent decades the number of Storm Eagles in active service has begun to increase, especially amongst those Chapters known to have favourable relations with the Adeptus Mechanicus. This has lead some observers to believe that production has been restored at an as yet unknown location.
Designed by Stuart Williamson, the Storm Eagle is a complete resin and plastic kit which is packed with incredible design work, including a fully detailed interior. It is available to pre-order now for despatch from 27th April. You can also download experimental rules for this fantastic model from the Forge World website. You can also see the Storm Eagle in our latest video.
Chaos Decimator Weapons
Towering over even the mighty, and exceedingly rare, Contemptor Pattern Dreadnoughts of the Adeptus Astartes, the Decimator is believed to be an attempt to bolster the ranks of such ancient devices that still serve the Traitor Legions on the part of the shadowed, now near-mythical, Legio Cybernetica. If this is the truth, then the warriors of the Imperium may well yet tremble before the might of this colossus.
Inquisitorial savants do not know for sure what unknown and malefic party are responsible for the sinful innovation of the Decimator Daemon Engine, which is capable of fielding a wide range of armaments.
The Decimator Soulburner Petard and Heavy Conversion Beamer, designed by Daren Parrwood, are finely detailed resin weapons for the recently-released Decimator Daemon Engine, experimental rules for which can be downloaded from the Forge World website now. These weapons are available to pre-order now for despatch from 27th April.
Forge World Events News:
Salute 2012, 21st April, ExCel, London
Forge World will be journeying to London’s ExCel centre for Salute 2012 on Saturday 21st April. We’ll be bringing a wide selection of our range of books, resin kits and modelling supplies, but due to the limited space that we have available at this event we recommend you places a reservation order to ensure we have exactly what you want, packed and waiting for you.
As with all our UK shows, Salute reservation orders are pre-paid to make the collection process quicker and easier, leaving you with more time to enjoy the rest of the event.
Please telephone the Customer Service team on 0115 900 4995 to place a reservation order. We will require your name, contact telephone number and e-mail address along with the list of products you wish to reserve, and you will need your card details to hand. We’ll need to receive your Salute reservation by Tuesday 17th April, and we’ll process the payment while you are on the phone. In the week before the event you’ll receive a confirmation e-mail containing your order number. This is your proof of payment, and you must bring this e-mail with you to claim your order.
Thanks,
Ead Brown

The most interesting thing, after going over the Storm Eagle's rules, is that there is in fact the capability to use it in a Chaos force.

It is indeed a beautiful model, but somewhat pricey. I might be more inclined to try converting a Stormraven first, hmmmmm .......
Nice to see that they already have a Chaos Storm Eagle option available (on the experimental rules sheet), as well as most of the Marine flavours. [oops, ninja'd]

At least it's a complete kit but its double the cost of a stormraven hmm. If they kept it around 60 pounds then it would probably been much of a must buy at least for me

Well forgeworld unlike GW seems to listen to it's fans.
Watching their video for it, looks like it's supposed to be held up perfectly well by a standard GW flying stand, but I tell you what I'm probably doing 4 heavy copper rod pins from that stand right through that eagle.
Glad to see the chaos love even if I don't have it myself.

The rules which were given out with the Storm Eagles sold at Open Day were an early iteration of the rules. They were a last minute thing to be printed out.

I agree. Price wise when you compare it to, lets say a Thunderbolt, it really falls short in my opinion. The Thunderbolt (or many of their other models) is pretty unique however the Stormeagle looks like it uses a big chunk of the Stormraven kit. I just cannot justify the price when it looks like it could be a conversion kit.

On a releated note, as I can't seem to find the answer on FW's site do they still offer free postage on orders over a certain amount? I only ask as several people in my local area want a SE and it would be more economical to order them all together if they still do it.

Actually I think it's a bit bigger than a thunderbolt. I find the price quite reasonable but maybe that's because I compare it to the Thunderhawk as a basis. The whole idea of the model is that fluffwise it shares a common source with the Storm Raven. Functionally the intent behind the model is to snap up players who didn't like the Raven's design. Either way it panders to the crowd very nicely.
Yes we would all like originality but with the marine aesthetic being what it is, designers are kinda horseshoed into using specific design elements. I mean marines have what 4 base vehicle models now. Rhino chassis, land raider chassis, land speeder variants, and thunderhawk based air power. All other designs they have lead back to those 4 not just in "kinda" looking like them but using the bulk of the design in any new piece. It's just how marines work.
Now IG and imperial navy, whoo boy talk about design varriances. Leman russ, chimera hulls, baneblades, marcharius', malcadors, valkyrie hulls, marauders, lighting interceptors, aquila landers, thunderbolt fighters, sentinels, tauros', gorgons, crassus, and minotaur.
The IG obvious has a long and drawn out history of diversity and design variance. As compared to the marines who all draw their equipment from the same primary sources. Fluff wise it makes plenty of sense. Sale wise meh, Honestly I'd love a new tank for the marines. Forgeworld has been hinting at something between a predator and land raider for awhile. It'd be nice to have a new chassis to play with instead of the same old ones.
GW has set certain standards of perception on marine and IG vehicles, FW is just following in those lines. Yeah we can all hope for originality with space marines but the likely hood is low.

Question.. It says it has a capacity of 20 models, Termis and jump infantry count as 2 each like normal.. But they also show a pic of the SE with a Dread.. We know Dreads count as 10 models.. Think we could plop 10 Marines and a Dread in it?? If that is the case.. I will get one. If not it will probably move to my mabye shelf...

Ah you're right but for a different reason than you're pushing, in apoc transport is just transport, on 2nd look it's for superheavies only. Easy to slip into that mindset for the storm eagle since it walks that line between the thunderhawk and storm raven.

I do wish FW wouldn't use such overly dramatic music for their display videos. Or if they must, lower the volume and have one of the designers briefly discussing the model(s) in question and what they are about. Stop-motion of model + dramatic music = silly. Watch out, it's going to rotate on the spot at us! Oh noooooes!
It's good to see it included for Chaos forces as well. While this does risk the whole Chaos = Imperial + Spikes thing, Chaos players deserve to have something fun to play with as well, at least until such a time as they can get more varied Daemon Engines.
When do they show the Storm Eagle alongside a dreadnought? I've clearly missed it. I'm afraid I have to agree that a Storm Eagle couldn't transport a Dread, whether in apocalypse or outside of it, since it doesn't mention Dreads in the Transport Capacity section like Storm Ravens do. Where would you put the Dread anyway? The Eagle doesn't have a magnetic-clamp whatsits like the Raven does, and unlike the Raven (where it's hull is clearly truncated to allow space for a Dread at the back) there wouldn't be any room to hand a Dread, even if it did have the clamp.

Were the Decimator's weapons always £9? I thought that they cost £7.50 like the Contempor ones. 0.o
Also there doesn't seem to be an option for a Heavy conversion beamer on the Decimator's profile, bit odd that they're not including it in the experimental rules despite already having it available for pre-order

I am more interesting in the heavy conversion beamer attachment for the decimator. As it is not in the current experimental rules PDF, this indicates that they going to make some heavy changes to the model after all.

Bit lost on why they can't use it when every other chapter can, but I guess that's just to offset that they get Stormravens and the rest don't. However I don't see any actual fluff reasons why not, and if you came along to a game with one I don't think anyone would care (it is £80....). Hell a couple of these supporting a Stormraven flight would be cool. ^^

Are you kidding me? Just because some of it is in plastic is a deal breaker? I preordered one because forgeworld resin isn't the best, far from it (arkurion pattern baneblade kits deff preferred to the full resin in my book) and you'll get the best cast from a preorder due to new mold. The fact there is less resin for them to screw up is a huge bonus and will make the build easier and of higher quality.
