I guess it was just for scale then.....
Yeah, they say it lacks the transport capacity in the rules pdf (compared to a storm raven).
The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.
Im still going to buy a few I think but FW really has been on a roll lately producing fairly awful rules for their new models. Might as well just buy a cestus assault ram as its a similar price in dollars but much more useful
Still a cool looking model tho

I don't think so. The Contemptor has a Blood Angels variant, but I think they're purposely avoiding releasing anything for the Blood Angels because of the perceived nature of the BA codex.

I have to say, as a wielder of the BA codex myself, I don't think we need too many goodies from FW, we've got plenty of neat stuff already. I'm reckon C:SM deserves some fun toys (the poor mites only have two troops choices you know, and they're not even that interesting. They could do with some more spicing up.) and CA and C:BT definitely need the extra support. In the meantime, we could always just use the Storm Eagle and pretend it's a Storm Pelican.

But... but... I want to play with Storm Eagles. Hell, I would love it if BA had storm eagles in the Heavy slot and had Storm Ravens in the Fast slot. (On an INFURIATING note, all imperial fliers, except for the Blood Angels Storm Raven, are in the Fast slot. WHY GW? WHY?

Why? Because the SR comes with 8 missiles, an assault cannon and a multimelta. For 200pts. Oh, and it can carry dreads.

So dose the GK one, and it is Fast.

It has 4 missiles, and they aren't the same.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Well, I look at it this way, C:SM are going to get their revamp soon enough, and they have all this FW stuff plus whatever new toys they get...
It can be a prickly subject when I lament BA being cut out from certain options, but I can only ask forgiveness as I am ignorant of rules and just how offensive adding some of these units to a BA list would be. That being said, if you think the Storm Raven looks turdie and you aren't a fan of stumpy dreads, vehicle wise we are cut off from a lot of the beautiful new FW releases, and there isn't much FWBA specific stuff to fall back on.
I buy them anyways, partly on the fact I don't play and I can enjoy painting them up anyhow, and partly because I figure worse comes to worst, I can just proxy the BA as C:SM, or simply proxie things like the Storm Eagle in for a Storm Raven. If I ever get around to playing a game and want to use them anyways.
In any case, apologies if anyone though I was implying it was unfair rules wise not to have them.
Overall, just a compliment to FW, I have become a big fan and purchaser of theirs in the past year or so, very pleased with everything I have received from them!

Ozymandias wrote:Hey BA players, just use the Storm Eagle as a Storm Raven. Ta da!
I really try to avoid that in my army. WYSIWYG all the way, otherwise it can get confusing to your opponent, especially if they're tired at the end of a tourney. I actually got into an argument with a guy who thought I was trying to gain some sort of magical "unfair advantage" because of it. Stupid argument, but I went pure WYSIWYG after that to avoid more of the same.
As a long time BA player I'm also peeved we can't have this awesome assault vehicle. You know... for an army who's theme is ASSAULT. Arrgh. I do buy the point where it could tip the balance in favor of an assault army, so why not limit it to 0-1 or some other extra restriction? They gave the Contemptor our two-fist ability sooo.. yeaaaaaa.
Other than that, nice model.

To be fair though, chaos is begin to grow now but have waited a long long time for the update though!
BA have many things going for them and until the new chaos codex, they need all the help they can get in order to stay in the fight and I think it's fair for chaos to take this, even in a 'no forgeworld' contest, it would give chaos a nice boost.
I thought the price was a bit high myself. However, after watching an uboxing video and getting a look at the instructions, the kit actually uses very little of the SR kit. So you are paying for a SR kit you barely use any major parts from and that's also why, they will probably not do a conversion kit. This kit has massive pieces of resin; the entire floorplate, sides and wings+engine blocks. Will also need a LOT of straightening.

Ya, it's a lot of Resin, price is pretty fair IMO... only uses the top and back door of the central fuselage (not the outside) and the under portion of the wings... lots of resin indeed.
I think the price is pretty good actually. All of the Imperial navy planes have been about the same and this thing looks to be at least twice the size.
I am so weak. At least now I'll be able to drop my Blood Claws where I want them. Too bad you don't get to use the hurricane bolters. And the Space Wolves don't get Ironclad dreadnoughts. Oh well, at least I have an army centerpiece.
So umm... am I missing something? This is like the third time they've talked about the Decimator and linked to its experimental rules, yet it still doesn't have the Heavy Conversion Beamer in there?
I belive the rules for the heavy conversion beamer are with the Contemptor rules. I dont think they added them to the new Pred either , even though they showed the new turret.

No apparently it's 90% resin and only a very few pieces from the Stormraven get used. The bits from the Storm raven that get used seem to be the glass, doors, wings, intake and exhaust of the engines, ones of the sets of landing gear, and the front end thrusters.

Sigh. I really like how this model looks. Unfortunately, I simply don't think I can justify dropping $145ish shipped for a AV12 skimmer that is inferior in most ways to the ugly-ass Stormraven. Pointswise, its just shy of a Land Raider with a lot less survivability.
Maybe if they revamp the rules to make it a little more desirable for my Chaos dudes.

Judging by the rules, I can only see the Storm Eagle being useful in larger games because at that point cost, a Landraider would be more useful.
Personally I'd like to see FW make a smaller scale MEQ skimmer transport (as I'm not a fan of these super big skimmer kits)
