I don't know!

Hi,
looking on the web and eBay, the 40k anniversary figures are not going for that much and the majority are buy it now £30-£50. I think that this is because that they are finecast, which means that they could be a miscast. I bought two of these figures and have one sealed ready to sell in a year’s time, and because I've gone through 2 replacements so far for my own model I have enough spares, just encase my sealed one is a misscast. But why do you think that it is, what’s your reasons? If you were going to sell it, what would you do, get a replacement just encase? Sell it with a poster as well? What are your thoughts?

I'm not sure if it's because it's Finecast, I'd probably say that it's because at this moment in time the majority of those that wanted a 25th anniversary figure went down to a store and bought one, rather than waited for it to come up on eBay. I'd give it a couple of years, when more hobbyists have come into 40k post 25th anniversary and then probably go for it then.

Also, I think that you're missing an option out on the poll for just over purchase price. It's a big gap between being lucky to break even and making double on it.

Nothing. It's fine cast and was sold everywhere. It's not a collectors item in the sense you can hold onto it for years to make some money, you want copies of space hulk or to get some metal out of print models if you want to be making money later.

Not much it is available everywhere, it is not limited to 100 or 1000 or some other small number. It is already overpriced in the box. So expect top get less than retail for it. I wouldn't expect it to turn into some big impressive investment.

I feel that the regular retail price is okay (if a bit expensive but all off GW stuff is so we will ignore that point)

I think it is a cool looking model and would have gotten it (maybe) if it wasnt for the fact I already have a Captain from AoBR and im mainly collecting Imperial Guard.

I dont get what all the hate for it is.

As for the price on EBay? I would hold off on anything more expensive than the original price but thats just me

It is a nice looking model, however, not enough for me to purchase. Even if it was a regular mini put in a blister, I doubt I would get it.

I wouldn't expect to make any money on it for 10-15 years time, if that. There will be plenty of them around in the next few years, and all of the people who collect such things will have bought one. Wait for demand to come in from seasoned collecters in a decade time who want some retro 40k.

Due to it's nature as Finecast, the models quality and the chance you'll get an Areo marine really puts a dent in the chance of getting a good price for it.

I agree completely.

Out of interest, did the miniatures come with a certificate giving a production number?

It's worth nothing for two simple reasons.

1. It's Finecast, so nearly all of them have flaws.

2. It's Finecast, so it was so exorbitantly over produced to make up for casting flaws, as GW predicted having to replace a huge majority of the models sold off the shelf.

No, because they cast thousands not placed into retail box anticipating having to replace most of them.

I didn't buy one when they were up for sale. I wouldn't buy one if the price stayed the same a year from now, let alone if it went up.

Well, it's an important point. If they don't have a numbered certificate inside then technically, as far as trading standards are concerned, they are not 'limited edition'.

Perhaps the only good thing that might come out of all of this, is that the ebay sharks who picked up loads of them (and probably do so with other stuff, denying genuine fans purchase at a fair price) might have got their fingers burnt and end up with unsellable stock.

Nothing, and it will stay at nothing forever because of gakky finecrapst. I would call all pewter GW models an Investment at this point. Hold onto them for your life.

There were batch numbers on the boxes. But If you have a decent replament ready it should be fine? By putting here's an anniversary marine bla bla bla, I alos have a replacment modle if the sealed one is a misscast, bla bla bla.

OP You are missing the whole point of how economics works, prices only go up when supply decreases, right now the model is worth what you pay Gw for it.

Once GW have no stock and new people start wanting it the price will go up to however much people are willing to pay for it.

Based on the cover of the Rogue Trader rulebook. There's a Blood Angel captain for Games Day this year that's based on the 2nd ed cover.

Considering that 2 or 3 stores here still have stacks of them(2-3 per store) laying around, IF I wanted one, I wouldn't pay retail on it from a second hand source like eBay.

I didn't know GW had a 25th anniversary celebration.

If it was discussed on DakDak I missed the threads.

I thought you were being sarcastic because of the complete lack of marketing and/or hype concerning the quarter-century celebrations of GW's biggest game
