In almost every list I see of CSM , people are using Power Fists on their Khorne Berzerkers. I know on the charge it is strength 9 and that can penetrate any amour value but they are meant to run in shoot the Bolt Pistols and charge. Even though they are awesome close combat ninja's the power weapon does the most damage. Being able to deliver 5 attacks at WS 5 S 5 I 5 means 3+ 3+ against MEQ on the charge and that can generally guarantee at least 3 guys dead before the enemy resolves their attacks. Khorne Berzerkers are meant to kill the squad before they attack back because the don't fair well to Power Weapons. Taking a Power Fist creates a risk that not all enemies will be kill before they attack and can lead to some of your guys dying unnecessarily.

But I would like to hear what you guys think ?

Without a pfist they can't even take down an armored sentinel. AV12 versus krak grenades=lulz

Also with wound allocation shinanigans the power weapon will end up having it's wounds doubled up on a special or heavy weapon.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

The Fist is what makes the unit a threat to more than just basic infantry, it gives them a chance against proper assault units. Without the Fist you can't really threaten vehicles (you can probably damage them, but destroying them is a big ask) and get completely shut down by walkers or high T MCs. S8 lets you instant kill multi wound characters, and hurt MCs (T6+) and other tough infantry like Thunderwolves and Terminators (assuming you get to swing).

A power fist handles a lot of things that would otherwise be a serious liability to a berzerker squad, and gives the squad a much broader range of things it's effective against.

A power sword just makes the squad a little better at what it was already good at.

i play an all berserker list with two units in it. Powerfists are a must they saved my ass many times.

In your squads, doing the chainsword tango

You do get lots of swings on the P.weapon, but as mentioned the fist is great walker MC and IC insurance. I've found the P.weapon is very usable but you need support for MC or Walkers that might threaten to tie up a valuable hammer unit in your army.

The Berzerker squad can already dish out a ton of strength 5 attacks. The power fist is necessary for dealing with the tougher units that shrug off the normal attacks.

As stated above, berzerkers already eliminate most MEQ or TEQ units on the charge. What they struggle with the fist provides an answer to. Also a fist on a berzerker costs the same as a fist on any other CSM, but this fist is a WS5, S9, 3 attack fist. So its a bargain compared to a plague marine or CSM fist.

being locked in a slow attrition war with a dreadnought is annoying. A fist gives you a chance of getting out.

The first time a squad of berzerkers gets into melee with a dread of some kind is the last time they forget a powerfist.

As a small note, a 'zerker squad charging a dread with a fist glances on a 3 due to strength 9, unlike the usual glance on a 4.
There's something lovely about a dread failing to flip a coin on both his attacks and then punching him in the face

I stayed away from PF due to cost but got convinced otherwise by bitter experience. You need the fist. Too bad it is on a model with 1 wound and just a 3+. At least the champ is an upgrade, so he cannot be singled out.

I try to run my zerkers with attached IC, usually lash sorcerer, so that I still get quick power attacks in addition to the normal attacks and the powerfist at the end.
