Just a thought..
What do you think about certain founding chapters of the BA having red thirst on a roll of 1-3 instead of 1? As in the Flesh Tearers or Knights of Blood.
I think this would reflect how close the chapter is to being consumed by the black rage.
It would obviously have to be balanced in some way. Maybe restricting the force organisation chart
Less elite choices would make sense to me...due to the fact they are often killed prematurely.

Thoughts?

Cheers

Not sure how to enforce this in reality...

It seems pretty clear cut to me.

No, you can't really have force organization modifications on that scale in the same codex. We already have enough MEQ Codexes, and writing and printing a new codex for that one little thing is, in all honesty, quite ridiculous. If you want to make an unstable gene-seed chapter, use DC. Simple.

Just Take Astorath the Grim...read Shadow of the Primarch

Your suggestion is his exact ability

He was also suggesting a force org chart mod...

Red Thirst is fine where it is if you ask me. You have the chance of having all your squads succumb to it anyway.

Astorath gives half your guys FC and fearless and Up to 150 Death company in a single FOC and is an HQ. That has a relic blade that rerolls opponent's saves. And is pretty damn choppy. I say that's fair.

Thanks for your opinions
I usually run a 1500 pt list and paying 220 for my HQ is a fairly large chunk of that.
Although Astorath is a great character I have never been a fan of running special characters except for rare occasions.
I feel like it would be cheesy to run a special character every battle. If my opponents want to do so then I don't have a problem with that.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I haven't seen it in years) but did the 4th ed SM codex have some sort of trait system that is similar to what I'm talking about?
And no, I wasn't suggesting to rewrite an entire codex just for one idea..

Cheers
