I'm going with I guess it's bad moons (not exactly sure but it's the yellow orks) and I would like to get a few opinions
If I prime them black I KNOW getting a yellow/lighter color is going to take a ton of coats and work but if I prime them white I can get it A LOT easier. But, I'm left with a problem...I want my orks to be a dark green almost camo green and getting that color with a primed white model is difficult (I assume it is I've only ever primed black) But I love the yellow on the orks and I'm considering doing an Imperial fists (Impeeral fiztz) ork theme just for fun.

Hmm I would say prime white. It is easier to make a model darker than lighter.

Don't prime them white either, there is a speed painting technique that is made for bad moons. Check it out before you do anything.

I prime white, and then wash with devlan mud (or the new equivalent), then go over that with thraka green (I don't remember the name of the new one for that, either). Then do all the details and metal with the ordinary paints.

Goffs are the big bad ass orks, its the tribe gazzy is from. The reason I say paint them as goffs, is mostly all the bits are metal, with just the pants, shirt, and belts being a different color. You can paint them a red scheme, if you like.

GW Foundation Yellow (used to be called Iyanden Darksun, don't know what the new 'base' variant is called).

Goes over black in 1-2 coats normally, excellent colour

I have a Badmoon army on here in the Gallery thanks to a guy from the Colonial popping a picture up

Had I known about the speed painting guide, I'd have primed yellow and followed that. You can pick up yellow spray or army painter spray.

If you chose to prime black. Yellow is not horrible to achieve any more if you can get your hands on the Foundation Paints by GW. I used them, and it was not bad. A nice coat of Foundation Iyanden yellow goes a long way. After that I did 2 light coats of golden yellow, then highlighting. Worked fine.

Hehe thanks for the plug ruff!

@Gharron I do my vehicles/walkers with the same technique but also do a lot of weathering to make them look like painted metal.

Basically just paint splotches of dark brown all over the place and fill the splotches in with boltgun metal, leaving a rim of brown behind.

Your orks look great! I'm excited about these orks XD
I just love the yellow it looks so striking, My community doesn't have many yellows so this should be really cool =) I think I'm just going to have to work a little harder on the primed black guys and I'll try to find that foundation is it new or old line?

If you're painting up from black I would suggest Ilayden Darksun (sp?) that's from the old foundation range, but just ask the sales person what paint has replaced that one.

The other option is a dark brown followed by thin layers of a bright yellow.

My local shop hasn't swapped yet so it's still the old line. I'll have to steal your list and get them asap XD
