So i was wondering what the geneal concensus is on Rough Rider base size? The run of the mill RR on the GW site has a cav base (20x40mm) yet the ForgeWorld DKoK uses round 40mm bases for their RR, as do the Tallarn Mukkali Riders.

So my question is as follows. If i walk into a GW store am i gonna get booted for having the 40mm bases when i should have 20x40mm or ViceVersa? Is it acceptable to use either? Does, at the end of the day, anybody really give a toss what bases are used?

For reference sake.

Officially the GW RR models are supplied with the cavalry bases, so that should be your starting point, however I don't really think people will care that much. The 40mm round bases are no less unwieldy in practical terms and they let you do more with regard to basing which is always helpful in the coolness stakes.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I'd probably stick with the cavalry bases (or bike bases with the rounded ends). Not that I would boo you out of the store if you didn't, but someone might.

Also, just because forgeworld does something doesn't mean that it's tournament legal (in the most obvious case being that most tourneys flatly ban forgeworld stuff).

Mine are mounted on bike bases, but the stock models from GW are on the cavalry bases. Ultimately they seem to fit the model (long and thin rather than round and thats purely what impacted my choice.

I'd suggest sticking close to the GW standard (bike or cavalry) if you're worried about tourneys
