Every time i go to the gaming store i see the same armies fighting. Obviously because the same locals show up often, but some armies are much more underrated than others which really bums me out because i think they're all pretty cool,but i digress. Because of the few underrated armies i don't get to see some of the fights that i think would be really awesome to simply watch. For example, iv'e never seen Tyranids vs. Necrons, and i think it would be a great fight because the armies are both evil, yet they look completley different. So i would to know what the rest of dakka thinks. What two armies would you like to see clash and why?

I rather expected this topic to be about what armies that you would like to see fight an actual battle, like watching a living army of Space Marines drop in against a living army of Eldar.

I'd like to see Guard vs. Orks. In some areas that might be pretty common, but we have no regular Ork players in our group at this point, and two regular Guard players (counting myself). A battle of Imperial Guard vs. Orks seems like it would be entertaining based upon sheer body count alone.

I've watched IG vs Orks before, and you're always in for a cool game. The play styles are so different, it leads to some really funny situations, like when an IG platoon is trying to backpeddle away from a mob of boyz, only for the boyz to get stuck in difficult terrain

As for me, almost all our armies in my store are spess mehreens, so anytime its two armies that aren't those, I get excited. Orks vs anything is cool, but I also want to see some wierd matchups like DE vs nids or eldar vs tau.

And finally I always wanted to see a game of tau vs black templar, because that would be hilarious to watch

Dark Eldar vs Necrons

Two evil empires that hate each other and are KoS.

Plus the idea of Razorwings zipping around and chasing Scythes, while Archons clash with Overlords is badass.

Tyranids and Tau. Slaughter at range, then slaughter at melee.

Either way though, Blood for the Blood God and all that.

Necrons vs Tau. I'd love to watch the response of the Crons when the Tau ask them to join the Greater Good.

Good matchups, keep it going! i Find it weird that i haven't seen DE vs. Eldar.

I have fought nids v necrons several times. Crons really have the whip hand, largely because nid weapons have pants AP and it is hard to drop enough cron warriors fast enough, although the MCs can do a lot of damage to crons. Given a choice of any nid forces to take on necrons I would definitely opt for a nidzilla army. It looks quite cool though as nasty lizard-things grapple with robots, the clash of colours and body styles is good to see.

Gaming Tables weren't meant to hold that much awesome at once.

Miniwargaming.com is somewhat good with this. The guys on their videos usually mix things up and don't just have Space Marines vs Space Marines. I've think there's been Tyranids vs Necrons on there.

If this guy lives in an area like mine, I can see why. We have two guys who have been playing for over 10 years apiece who just recently finished their first fully painted armies Although I can't talk, I haven't painted a single one of my models yet... Gotta get that paint tomorrow

The thing is, some people only care about the gameplay aspect, and could care very little about modeling (I was this way at first, until I found the joy that is conversions/kitbashing). These are the guys who are always tweaking their lists and preparing for tournaments. Not saying its right, just why it happens. It's kinda hard to paint a guy when you're constantly changing your mind about what he's going to have on him...

Also, to keep it on topic, any two horde armies fighting each other always looks awesome. Orks vs IG, Nids vs, mass footcrons, whatever. It just looks so awesome to see literally hundreds of guys on the table and realize that they're gonna slug it out in a good old fashioned brawl. I get so tired of seeing metal boxes, but I have a feeling we won't see a change in this till next edition

Movie Marines vs Movie Marines would be hilarious.

Especially if you houseruled that they had to share their stunt doubles between both armies.

Failing that, Movie Marines vs anything that's NOT MEQ (say 1k movie marines vs 2.5k of anything non-MEQ).

iv'e seen that a lot of people want to see nid vs. orks. It's the ultimate fight yet very few have ever seen it. It's so sad.
