I choose mine because I love of the thought of huge bearded, 4 foot drunk fella "running" across the battlefield. I also choose them because I love the look of Dwarfs and their lore. Also, all my ally 85 toons on WoW are Dwarfs (8 of them)

Undead have always been my favorite in any Fantasy setting, and Warhammer Fantasy does them better than most. The idea of a Necromancer sending forth an army of the dead, and reinforcing it with the dead of this enemies, is pretty evocative.

My main conundrum when choosing was Vampire Counts or Tomb Kings. I got back into Fantasy right when Tomb Kings got re-released, so it wasn't easy. They have some fantastic new plastics in the Sphinx and Tomb Stalker kits, and the look of the army overall is really good.

But they're not really 'undead' in the general sense, they're Skeletons, Mummies and stone constructs. Vampire Counts, however, run the gamut. Skeletons, Wights, Wraiths, Banshees, Zombies, Vampires (obviously), and undead creatures like Zombie Dragons and Dire Wolves, as well as the typical living followers like Necromancers and Ghouls, wrapped up nicely with corny 50's vampire horror staples like bats and ghosts.

Then the Vampire bloodlines themselves, and all the imagery that accompanies them. The Vampires make a good, personal, focal point to the shambling hordes of random undead following them.

This is the Undead I wanted.

Because I love undead. Don't really know why though. I have loved them ever since I played Warcraft III with my older cousin when I was very young.

Although, I have to admit that I'm tempted to start Beastmen as a second army. I really love their aesthetics (especially all variants of Gors. But I don't like the Minotaurs though). And they seem really fun to play with!

True, dat.

I have always liked the aesthetic of reptiles. I have a pet lizard and, in my capacity as a science teacher, I take care of two turtles and a snake. I'm one of those 29 year olds who never really got over the dinosaur thing. The idea of crushing chaos beneath the clawed foot of saurian order is really neat.

In my case I love the background to the wood elves and their very single-minded attitude - if it's outside the borders of Athel Loren, we don't care. Their relationship with the forest is something I also really enjoy, particularly how it's still fluid and completely different in various areas, characters etc.

On a practical note, it's a refreshing change to paint natural colours after collecting Eldar and Thousand Sons, and they're quite a small elite army, so there aren't too many models to paint. I'm very easily distracted, so doing a horde army is literally impossible.

Looking for fun articles on painting, tactics and wargaming? Are you after a new regular blog to follow? Are you a bit bored with nothing better to do?

If the answer to any of the above is 'well, I guess' you could probably do worse than read my blog! Regular wargaming posts, painting and discussions

Ogres. They're big and stupid and will eat just about anything. The idea of these guys rushing into a wall of spears and most likely winning as they just tear through infantry is awesome to me.

However, with that said I don't like the new edition. It's less about what made ogres for me (infantry), and now more about "Hey guys what kind of stuff can we ride into battle this time?"

Considering in the fluff a full grown ogre could chase down a pony most of the time, I just find the idea of mounted ogres kind of stupid. They don't really need them.

There are more reasons I play WFB, but the reason I play Tomb Kings is basically that simple.

High Elves. I like their playstyle, strong in all categories, but not very tough, so you still need to play with some finesse.

I'm a big fan of the fluff as well. Especially how "stable" it has been over the decades. A lot of fluff has seen big changes over the years, but the High Elves remain relatively untouched.

I like hoarde armies and I love the Skaven tech/magic. I like how it can just blow up in your face and their lore is really interesting too. Im also drawn to vampire counts as i like undead but im working on my skaven army first.

Beastmen. Because the idea of half-man half-beast warriors that horde in the thousands in the woods is just such a bad ass gimmick. I like the look of my goat headed gors. May be because of all the goat-headed motifs in Black Metal. I also knew I wanted a mighty horde to command. The Beastmen offer this, just a damn shame Chaos-God affiliations are a thing of the past. I play O&G for the randomness; Chaos for the AMAZING conversion possibilities, plus an army of big baddies is awesome (I own no less than 7 daemon princes!!-for fantasy and 40k); and I play Empire because they have a bit of everything and were my starter army.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I like the idea of simple humans in a savage fantasy world. And the Empire don't fit that bill for me as they have big monsters and now death lazers.

Plus knights. LOTS of knights.

Well I'll go by my reasons for each army.

High Elves: I picked them because my wife picked Dark Elves and they are an easy army to pitch battles against. I've also liked the whole arrogant narcissistic attitude of elves.

Empire: my love of all things renaissance. To me they are the underdogs of the warhammer world. I love me some medieval warfare.

Vampire Counts: Always loved vampires, and mixing them with the Empire just compounds that. They are a globally versatile army that can fit in just about any field of battle.

Orcs: I wanted to paint something besides pale skin.

On the one hand, I love all of the beasts and monsters that they can bring to the table. I have a love of dragons and powerful lords smiting things with them.

Also, I love their units and crazy reckless speed.

The fluff and lore behind Tzeentch lured me to Chaos, the idea of the cults of Tzeentch forming the the higher classes of the empire and power through knowledge grabbed me, and my soul was his.

Sticking with my Chaotic Neutral ideologies, Gobbo's seem to fit as the next expansion while still keeping the sneaky, trickster ways of Tzeentch

I play Beastmen due to the fact, that they are a uniq army in WHFB, And they also have that sheer evil feel to them. I also really like the fluff and the artwork for them, The moddels are also very nice, particular the new Doombull figure witch blew my mind away when I opend it for the first time. And also the symbols they use are common in the music I enjoy
