What was your profession (anything from farmer to outdoors-man to pickpocket) and how does it help you survive (anything from better equipment to a skill)?

Think towards more of a group survival and having to fight through it type scenario, not (the obvious real outcome) hiding in one's house or the easiest way to kill yourself

Also try to think of as many as possible. Here is what I / my group / this forum thought of so far:
1) Huntsman - Bows, Survival in harsh conditions
2) Militia - More skilled in combat than your average Joe
3) Engineer - Gun
4) Blacksmith - Make quality weapons or armor
5) Duelist - Swift and efficient
6) Lumberjack - Strong, Access to large Felling Axe
7) Town Leader - Able to keep everyone together
8) Alchemist - Access to potions and medicine
9) Priest of Morr - miracles to take down the undead with and lore about them
10) Noble - personal guard, good equipment, a riding horse, most likely knowledge of fencing
11) Battle Wizard - knowledge of Necromancy and great power
12) Coachman - a coach and horses to draw it
13) Messenger - riding skills and a fast runner
14) Barber - Surgeon, medical knowledge
15) Rat catcher - a small but vicious dog, knowledge of the sewers
16) Butcher - Knowledge of ... cleaving I suppose
17) Messanger - Speed

I hate hard counters. In a game of rock, paper, scissors, I hate playing any of the factions because no matter what you choose you might as well not deploy against your hard counter. I want to use a gun. Rock, paper, and scissors could all probably still beat gun, but gun will never feel like a game is a lost cause.

So like, aside from the general idea that when this happens, villagers board up their house and gak their pants? Because that's how it's always described when zombies start moving about a village.

I'd say being a Huntsman would be a decent-standing profession in such an outbreak.
-You would have the skills to move silently, and remain aware of your surroundings
-You would have the skills to kill quickly, quietly, and effectively from a distance.
-You would have the skills to keep yourself alive and kicking (Ability to bring in food, plus atleast a basic knowledge of herbs and edible plants)
-You would be able to keep a cool, calm head
-You would have an array of weaponry at your disposal (Bows, arrows, hunting knives, snares, etc.)

Town apothecary.

Pros - Can kill yourself painlessly before the zombies get you
Cons - if the zombies get to you first your screwed.

It would be pretty hard to top a huntsman, perhaps a blacksmith if you were even semi-trained in the weapons and equipment you made.

You seem to be combining multi game universes here. Zombie outbreaks are because of TK (sorta) or Vamps or Necros. It's not like [insert generic zombie movie] where zombies "happen," like because someone died after eating a particularly bad brand of cheese. At least not in WHFB as far as I know.

So unless you are of value to the TK, Vamp or Necro in question, you're just going to die or run away or hide. Or you're some super baddass hero in which case mobs of zombies are no different than mobs of anything else--in fact they are easier because zombies are one of the worst units in the game. Though I haven't seen the stats for cripled children.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Blacksmith - probably will not have time to make weapons and armour (and probably will not be skilled in their use anyway) but that does not matter as you will be one of the strongest people in the village and you have a number of heavy hammers which you are very skilled at using... Plus as mentioned above you will be of use to your new evil overlords...

Warpstone, Geheimsnacht (spelling?), 'n' big supernatural events... Zombies have been known to get up by themselves. Sylvania had this problem before Vamps even turned up.

Or simply a budding necromancer's experiment gone wrong.
