Hi there,

In today’s newsletter we’re excited to announce that Imperial Armour Model Masterclass Volume Two is available to order for immediate despatch!

Imperial Armour Model Masterclass Volume Two

Since Model Masterclass Volume One was published several years ago, the painting and modelling landscape has moved forward considerably, with an explosion of new models, paints and materials available, not least of all from Forge World itself. In Model Masterclass Volume Two, the talented painters and modellers of the Forge World design studio build on the first volume with more informative articles, stage-by-stage guides and lavish galleries of inspirational models, such as the Imperial and Chaos Reaver Titans, Great Brass Scorpion and Valdor Tank Hunter.

Inside you’ll find step-by-step painting and modelling articles for our resin kits including the Crassus Armoured Assault Transport and the Great Brass Scorpion by Mark Bedford, as well as a Red Scorpions Land Raider Proteus and the Chaos Reaver Titan by Phil Stutcinskas. There are guides on the building and painting of the stunning display boards, ‘Encounter at the Balmaeus Ice Mines’, built to showcase Imperial Armour Volume 11: The Doom of Mymeara, and the ‘Raid on Kastorel-Novem’, built for Imperial Armour Volume 8. Also included are detailed painting galleries of some of our most iconic resin kits, including the Vulture Gunship by Phil Stutcinskas, a Renegade version of the Minotaur Artillery Tank by Paul Rudge and Keith Robertson’s beautifully painted Saim-Hann Phantom Titan bust.

Whether you’re building and painting a centrepiece model for your army or a detailed diorama for display, Imperial Armour Model Masterclass Volume Two is packed with innovative techniques to help you create stunning models and is an essential reference for any serious painter. This 144-page, full colour, hardback book is available to order here. We’ve also added another video to our YouTube channel that showcases some of the pages and models from this incredible book in more detail.

Thanks,

I really liked the first book and was hoping for some ork love on the second but apparently it is still absent. Shame :(. Did anyone picked this one as the Forgeworld open day that can share their experiences? Is it worth of is it more of the first? How much background (materials, assembly, modelling does it cover?)

2000pts in refurbishment

If you mean that last page, those are the robots working on the plane diorama featured on the front cover.

I own both books and I like both equally. Especially the Reaver Titan is very in depth.

Is there any ork vehicle on the book? It seems to be represented on the cover but does not appear on the description.

These are 5 sample pages out of a book of 144 pages.

That said, even if the Ork vehicles are not given an "in-depth spotlight" the books are not meant to really be followed as step by steps for painting something exactly the same as what they've done.

They're meant to showcase techniques which you can apply to your own models.

That IS a repair crane. I'm not much of a painter, but I like conversions. That looks like it would make a nice power lifter sentinel.

Anyone know if GW will be stocking it or am I going to have to stump up the 12% P&P?

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

It depends on the store and the manager.

I've seen some GW stores that stock IA books and FW books, and some that don't.

Your local GW will probably special order it for you, saving you the postage.

Well the first book was fantastic, one of the most in-depth and usefull painting guides I have come across. I hope to pick one of these on the near future, after I have mastered everything in the first volume that is!

Do we know if this book uses the old or the new GW colors? Heaven forbid, does it include the use of any paints or additives not sold by GW?

EDIT: it looks like, in the titan pic, that they are using quite old GW paints in the black top hex pots. Perhaps the colors listed will be the old ones.

EDIT 2: the video shows some pages up close, they are using the old GW paint names, thank God.

It uses the old colours, and even some of the old inks and others like oil based paints, just like the first book.
I talked to some of the FW painters, and he explained the book was made before the new paints were available. Heck, some of them still hadn't even seen/used the new paints at the time of the Open Day.

Now if only they sold a pdf of it at a lower price...
