Isn't technology wonderful?
Tyranid invasion- Genestealers, mistrust, desperation and an all-consuming horde descends upon a planet and our otherwise engaged heroes.
Chaotic invaions- Cultists, machinations on both sides, betrayal, bargains struck and artifacts of power.
Necron scheming- Planned fratricidal wars, daggers in the dark, machinations for power and an ancient weapon of war.
Necron invasion/Awakening- A slumbering tomb world awakes with a hunger for souls and an indignant anger at the arrogance of humanity.
Rebellion and Uprising- An oppressed populace fights back, evil lies on both sides.
Ork invasion- Nothing simpler than just having to hit the being in front of you... or is there?
Eldar invasion/raid- The inscrutable Eldar descend from their space borne home to fight. Mystery, sorcery, fate and very sharp swords.
Civil war- The many facets of the Imperium go to war with each other. Who will win or will everyone lose?
Daemonic Incursions- Cultists raise an otherworldly host, daemons fight for power between each other whilst mortals fight for survival.

If you have some other suggestions PM me or say in thread and i'll add them.

You should include Daemonic incursions. Though I don't have any fancy wording for that part.

I'm already in the middle of a Chaos infestation, Tyranid invasion, Necron scheming story as it is.

A simple uprising will suffice for me.

A civil war would be cool. Like the Badab war, but with less space marines. Granted, the issue with that idea is incorporating xenos factions.

Or a Vraks-like scenario, with a chaos tainted governor separating from the Imperium.

I'm interested in the idea and will help out however I can, if you'll have me.

Mechanicus, Inquisition, Ecclesiarchy, Maybe some SM and then the poor sods of the Imperial Guard trying to restore order rather than gain political power.

Maybe a rogue Inquisitor has convinced some Mechnicus to aid him in research (He may hire Xenos warbands to help defend him) and another rogue (Though still good) Inquisitor has a convent of Sisters to stop him.
The PDF are being attacked by both sides while the Guard and Space Marines attempt to restore order and support the PDF...

You can do almost anything in 40k.
The smart part comes when you make it fit with the background...

I personally prefer as little SM-involvement as possible. That was why I warned about the risk of cooperating too much.

A company at most.
They would be used primarily to increase tension in certain parts.

Maybe...
Though in my mind the Mechnicus Rogue Inquisitor would be Ordo Xenos and would have the Deathwatch whilst the Sisters Inquisitor would be Ordo Hereticus and wouldn't have access to them.

We don't see eye to eye on everything, so I think it's better to split up in the pairs or trios that is most compatible, than having all of us barking at each other. I don't mean to be harsh or such by any means, but we should use this to find who agree on what, not have 12 people agree on fluff. Let this be a went, so we know how we stand towards each other.

Rebellions if done right are awesome

So 1 space marine company (Depending on the uprisingly, but that is the maximum. Unless it is a chapter homeworld.)
Space Marine Strike Force at a Minimum

1 Regiment of Guard
9-35 regiments of PDF (Because they are just there to stall the enemy until the IG actually come in to save the day, or what i like to call PSB 'The Planetary Speed Bumps'

Really matters which world or system it is
Btw what is this for?
Are we writing a story O.o?

From whom are unforgiven we bring the mercy of war.

No Space Marines for the rebellion...
Most of the stories wouldn't have Space Marines in really...
See the other thread for what we're doing.

What other thread?
Plus I said (Depending on the Uprising. Space Marine Strike force is a minmium amount they would send if it was an issue. If the guard can take care of it. The Guard can take care of it. Plus A strike force at its bare bones is 20 marines.

I see no other thread!

I'd prefer to avoid Space Marines unless when they can be used well.
They wouldn't really be all that useful in the Rebellion storyline IMO...

I like the idea of a planet revolting. I don't know if that'd be a civil war or an uprising, but I like it.

It would be an uprising...
IMO a civil war is more akin to the various organisations of the Imperium fighting each other...

Matters on the rebellion. If it is a Genestealer Cult. Sometimes a Deathwatch squad is sent in with an inquisitor for Insurance reasons.

It probably won't be.
A rebellion due to a genestealer cult would be a precursor to a Nid invasion...

I like that idea. Though we would all have to agree (or mostly agree) what kind of planet, who is involved, and what the outcome of the conflict will ultimately be, be it victory for the loyalists, or defeat, or a drawn-out conflict, or maybe even Exterminatus.

Being a bit biased towards my Necrons, I would want the awakening of a Tomb World. However, I could try my hand at something else.
Also, another suggestion: if Space Marines absolutely HAVE to be involved, let's try picking one that isn't always featured in the official stuff, like perhaps a descendant chapter from the Salamanders or something.

Though on a serious note, this is coming together. Someone would write about the renegade/separatist side too. Get some involvement with a chaos warband or similar.
