It came out wrong. Hehe.

I'm willing to take part, but I think of the pool more as idea-pooling than anything, as lets say I take a Space Marine someone else has written and gives him the Idiot Ball by letting him stupidly ram a tank or a Titan with his Land Speeder achieving nothing, then I would be lucky if my chars doesn't commit suicide. It was that I really meant could be a bad thing.

If you have nothing nice to say then say frakking nothing.

As a group, the decision for how you write the story for your part of the contribution rests with the group. If you want say, three separate stories each with a unqiue character to tell about your civil war/rebellion, then by all means work towards that goal. The idea is to work as a group to produce a quality piece of writing together. As a group, you write and edit and approve each others works.

I cannot emphasis the teamwork part more.

I think a writer should write to his strengths.

Mine are easy, Imperial Guard and Dark Eldar. I'm knowledgeable about the Sisters of Battle as well.

A good writer also works on improving his weaknesses.

Anywho, so I think it is best to allow people to pick their partners for this writing exercise.

The basic premise of the project is that each group gets to write about a particular civil war/rebellion going on within a star system.

The bare boned synopsis is that an Inquisitor has erected a blockage against the system. Determining that many of the citizens inhabiting the star system are falling under the sway of Chaos, he has ordered the planetary governors to decimate those he feels are too far gone into the grip of heresy.

This proves devastating, as the star system devolves into anarchy and chaos. Civil war erupts on all the planets as factions form, some of them in support of the Inquisition, others fighting for their very lives as death squads descend upon their homelands, purging millions through brimstone and fire. Even the planetary governors are divided as some take the side of rebels and lead a vicious guerrilla war against what they perceive is Imperial tyranny.

Each group gets to write a story about a civil war going on within their own planet. The 2-3 writers team up to create and fashion a story about the uprising and subsequent war. You may use pretty much anything at your disposal to create the civil war upon the planet, making it a first person perspective or perhaps a series of documents describing the events that unfold upon the planet. Maybe you take the role of a refugee or perhaps a misguided soldier fighting the war on the wrong side. It is up to the group to decide what happens and how it goes.

Through the process the group should work together, deciding who writes what and what you want to write. If you want to write 2-3 separate stories and merge them together, that is fine! All we ask is that you explain somewhere what the factions are fighting for and define each faction somewhere in the writing. It can be as blunt or as subtle as you want it. The idea being that it is a civil war you are writing about and the concept is that as a group, you write about that civil war.

As a group, editing and proofreading, offering suggestions and tips is all totally okay! The idea is to grow as a writer by tackling a challenging piece of writing.

The group can write as much as they want, but the total contribution should be at least 1,000 words per person.

The suggestion you have suggested sounds like incompetence on the part of the Inquisitor. I mean he orders a blockage of a system, and no-one ask questions. Other Inquisitors would be involved. The Ecclessery would have their saying, same with the Planetary Governors as they would likely have someone to call.

Unless the guy have some serious backing I can't see how this is gonna work. How many planets will be quarantined? What organizations will be active there?

I could go for Redemptionist-uprisings as they are wholly unsympathetic and not liked much.

If you have nothing nice to say then say frakking nothing.

The Inquisitor is from the Ordo Hereticus. Through his observations of the Hartknell star system, he believes that a great deal of the population is susceptible to heresy and more than likely, already has gone over to Chaos worshiping.

Already approved by the Sector Governor to conduct this endeavor, he has requisitioned the help of an Imperial Navy detachment. However, the support of Imperial Guard regiments is currently tied down to other campaigns, and since scant few extra-solar soldiers are available, he had requested the help of the Planetary Governors in this endeavor. Many have agreed to support the purge, but a few balked, instead siding with rebels who are now being hunted by the Inquisitor and his allied forces.

However, the war is not that clear cut. This was a loose confederacy of planets sharing only a common star; each has its own culture and ecosystem. Long simmering feuds or uneasy truces between different factions has now escalated into full blown civil war as each planet now has to contend with not only the Inquisitor's purge, but the various forces vying for control of their respective planets in an attempt to wrest power from those they think shouldn't have it.

There are other factions than just the Governors to consider. The Arbitrators and Ecclesiarchs, the Imperial Guard there would likely have their say. Are there any Space Marine chapters there? The AdMech? Their presence?

What kind of Chaos is behind it?

I have sort of a civil war fleshed out in my own fluff, but that's more the fault of my main chars. The pleasure of being damn rich, and selling an agri planet to AdMech. But that is more them with superb military force drafting much of their planet's population into the IG in order to avoid famine.

The Sector Governor has sanctioned this quarantine.
The Inquisition holds authority over any Imperial forces in the area.

The Arbites are ordered to use discretion when restoring order on planets in open revolt. (Down to the group when writing but the Arbites they can be a non-feature or a major component)

The Adeptus Mechanicus has some presence in the area but are not taking any overt actions to assist their colleagues bar appealing the quarantine at the Inquisitorial Triumvirate. (AdMech presence is down to the group writing the story they can be a non-feature or they could be a major component)

There are few Imperial Guard regiments in the system however the most recent communications show that they are either in open revolt or are remaining loyal and trying to restore order. (Again up to the group writing)

There is little Space Marine presence in the area, what there is has not attempted to either escape or contact anyone outside the quarantine. (Try to keep all SM presence to a minimum. At most maybe 20 marines probably less than that, if you can try to avoid using them)

The Ecclesiarchy has taken the same steps as the Mechanicus however there is little in the way of Ecclesiastical political power in the system.

The sector has been quarantined and most planets are complying with the purges however the Hartknell system is in open revolt concerning this.
The reason for the quarantine has not yet been given by the Inquisition.

I think warone is suggesting a true civil war, dont expect any space marine, imperial guard or Chaotic intervention. Although chaos may be behind the scenes i dont think they are actively involved.

If some form of 'escalation' occurs though, i wouldnt be surprised if Chaos and the Astartes get more actively involved.

Still really, really, Really think the 'teams' of participants to be randomly picked.

Can't tell you. It's a secret...

I like how the idea is formulated. I am up for writing anything on the "rebel" side. What I am thinking at the moment is maybe write down something a PDF sergeant following the "rebel" side and from the humanitarian and helpful side that upholds his ideals, he ...

Well its best if we read it completed.

Shouldn't we decide on who is doing what? As of now, everything seems to be a mess, we are closer to 12 bans than a good theme.

Also I thought this would be a pool of ideas, not a fixed setting, as that have almost no chance to work.

Why?
People are getting into their groups and coming up with their ideas is what's happening now...

Your focusing too much on the plot that connects all the stories together.

When you team up with your partner, you get to essentially decide what you want to do so long as the theme is a civil war/insurrection. If you want the Adeptus Mechanicus to actually be led by Eldar who are puppets of a Genestealer Cult that were once former Space Marines that had once become Chaos worshipers at the behest of a Dark Eldar Archon who secretly works for a Necron Lord disguised as an Inquisitor, then by all means, you can conceive of that within the context of your particular rebellion so long as it is justified through the lens of that one unifying theme.
