I have a few questions about 6th edition release and I thought I would start a thread for anyone with questions about 6th Ed.
My question:
When 6th edition rules come out do we just keep using our 5th edition coded until our new one is released? Or are the codexes made all available at release?

You will always use your newest codex.

There may be new FAQ's for your army, for 6th edition.

It's pretty much going to be swap 5th rulebook for 6th, change army list a tad using same old codex and possible FAQ, play game, argue about rules, roll more dice.

Edition changes tend to be gradual, and not complete overhauls. 6th is expected to be much like 4th and 5th edition, in that rules going back even as far back as 3rd edition should still be viable. Hopefully there will be FAQs released in short order for every faction to clarify any changes or problems codices could have with changing over to 6th. In other words, juraigamer is spot on.

Tend to be, it's only been that way for two versions, like how it went from rogue trader to 2nd (standard changes) than suddenly a huge upheaval with the third.

Not to mention everyone thought the same for fantasy 8th too.

I don't think they'd pull a 3rd edition and rewrite tiny holdover codices for every army, creating a game that invalidates every rulebook that came before. That's all kinds of ludicrous, and given the large scale of the game these days I can't see it happening. We also would have probably heard about it by now, given the rumormongers.
