So I've been slowly working on an Apostles of Contagion force lately, collecting and converting for both a CSM and Renegades list. Figured I'd make an ongoing P&M Blog for it.

Gonna start this one off with a bang and decided to toss up stuff for my new big project, a sculpted Great Unclean One.

Try to give a clear great unclean one look, but go for something a little more unique. Tried some alternate heads and body types, ultimately going with the center options. As my first purely sculpted piece, I wasn't sure on the correct approach for it, then a fellow scratchbuilder recommended clay with a tinfoil core. I went with that approach and its turning out nicely!

Still a long ways to go on this guy, but im definitely looking forward to it!

That has got to be the ugliest, nastiest, slimiest piece of diseased **** I have ever seen. Grandfather Nurgle will be very pleased. Well done.

Lots of pics incoming! Some recent additions to the force, much of which still in the works.

First off. an update on the Great Unclean One. Worked on the head, baked him, then started greenstuff work. Planning on doing the arms completely separate when the time comes.

Next up some Terminators I salvaged from an older army. Going for a good accompanying unit for my Bioshock inspired Daemon Prince.. The heads are actually the exhaust vents from Chaos backpacks.

Another salvaged model, A Nurgle Dread. Was lucky to find the FW chainfist at my FLGS, as all I had was that aweful, awful claw bit in my bitzbox.

And now for some renegades! My Disciples of Xaphan and Scout Sentinels. The heads are the Iron Reich Chem Trooper from Kromlech. Chopped up some lasguns to make them Shotguns. Then sentinels were a on the whim buy, as I got them both in a local auction for $15, in addition to some Chimaeras.

Gave the meltagun trooper a bit of an attitude, as if telling the oncoming tanks to bring it on.

Wow. Nice work. I have always found that sculpting teeth is really really tough work. can we get a shot of him with a 40k fig so we can get an idea of size.

Yeah, the teeth were not in the least bit fun.

Heres a size comparison as requested . Hes a bit smaller than the forge world model.

And a new addition: my Nurgle Sorcerer (possibly a Necrosius count as) Complete with crow familiar, personal Icon on the backpack and Ultramarine Helmet. Usually I put Salamander helmets on my trophie racks since Sallies are my main army, but I decided to mix it up.

The crow was from Warmachine Wrack models, the spear from Chaos Knights, and the original model was this guy:

Very impressive!

How hard is it to sculpt the features for your version of a GUO?

Thanks! Its a little tricky, but I just handle it in layers. Like for the mouth, I did the teeth and gums, then the torn skin over that after it cured.

Whoa, that is awesome, how did you make the body of that GUO?

Sculpey..Mold it up, toss it in the oven, then its nice and hard so you can do greenstuff over that.. And you can bake it multiple times, as well as being able to bake cured GS.

Really looking good.
Is the slashed up jabba body from DAS clay or something similar?

Imperial guard: Because quantity has a quality of it's own.

Sisters of Battle can be used in any game, with the exception of chess, Monopoly and of course, Warhammer 40,000.

After 8 editions, you might have thought that GW could get fantasy right.

Thanks, the heads were an on the fly idea that ended up actually working! And I enjoy my avatar as well

As mentioned, the body is made out of Sculpey, a polymer clay you bake to cure.

Finally got in the bases for my dread and termies and the big boy's sclupt is close to complete. Will be posting up some new pic soon!

The sculpt for the Great Unclean one is complete!

Did a good deal of detail work with GS to get that nice and diseased texture to him, The sword is plasticard and a wooden dowel. Painted version coming soon!

Wow great work, he looks disgusting!

Is he heavy? Or did the tin-foil remove a lot of weight?

Thanks. People say that a lot, but I don't see it. Yeah, they're both obese, but there's no tail. completely different face, crab legs.

Thanks! Hes kinda heavy, maybe about the weight of a metal Ghazkull. The larger base does help when moving it though. But the tinfoil core did lighten it a bit.

Nice work. The only similarity that i see between jaba and the GUO are the fact that they are both fat. Your GUO concept is nice. very original. I am going to reserve judgement on the legs till its done but so far the whole project seems to be coming together for you.

Reminds me of this guy kinda

Magtheridon, a character from the Warcraft universe/games

crossed with maybe Azmodan (from Diablo III)

Are you by any chance a Blizzard fan?

But yeah, super super cool. Also really liking the Renegades.. The sorceror is also awesome.. Are you looking at maybe sculpting some lesser daemons at some point?

I have played WoW and Diablo 3. I did draw a bit of inspiration from the Warcraft Pit lord with the tusks. I had started working on this before Diablo 3 was released, so when I saw Azmodan I thought of my GUO (mainly wishing i could put him on a larger base so I can have those big ass legs!

I may try my hand at some Plaguebearers, and will most definitely be doing some Chaos Spawn, so that Gift of Chaos is that much more humiliating.

After toting him around at my FLGS for a bit and playing him in a few games, I finally got around to getting some pics of my now completed Great Unclean One.

Very happy with the result, and will be looking to making some custom Plaguebearers in the near future.

Superb work all around, particularly struck by those sentinels. How are you doing the armour on your apostles, it looks like you've used browns rather than the usual bronze?

(on an unrelated note, where are those banners in your sig from? they look rad)

Thanks! I actually use Vomit brown with a coat of Gryphonne Sepia (or whatever those colors are called now) I went with the yellow brown since it give a more waxy feel and pestilent gunk doesn't really mesh great on metallic base color. And I made the sigs myself.
