Thousand Sons Battleship wandering the galaxy...

This one is between the Craftworld Eldar and their Dark Kindred; Eldrad Ulthran vs. Asdrubael Vect. Both have wisdom and knowledge of millenia, and both remember the Great Fall. Eldrad can see the snaking paths of the future, and Vect has the predator instincts of one who survived and rose to dominate the byzantine world of the Dark Eldar. Who is superior?

This is fluff-based, not TT rule-based, by the way...

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

Eldrad. Vect, dominates a dying world of dead Eldar that can't let go... Eldrad, architect of the survival of the entire Eldar race.

I'm going to have to go with Vect on this one. Bluntly put, surviving [i]and/i] dominating Commoragh is far more difficult than simply ensuring the Craftworlds endure. IMO, it's probably easier to fight Chaos and Humans (among other factions) or cut deals with the latter and manipulate other races than to survive and dominate Commoragh.

I feel like Eldrad's extremely potent psyker abilities gives him an advantage, that being said, in pure martial skill/equipment, I think Vect has the edge.

I hate both these guys, but I'll have to go with Eldrad, he haves psychic powers, very very potent ones and divination, Vect doesn't.

Fluff-wise I don't feel there would be a fight. Vect would know better than to take on Eldrad Ulthran personally (were he still alive). If he decided that Eldrad had to go it would be as simple as a ranger (lured, perhaps, under Vect's hegemony by promises of power and immortality) taking a blaster shot at an opportune time or placing a deadly Commorite poison onto something Eldrad frequently uses - something subtle, but potent. If these failed, or Vect saw them as unlikely to work, he might instead incite one of the Kabals to start a war elsewhere to distract Eldrad while he attained his goal by another means.

While I prefer Vect as a character, I think that Eldrad would foil him. All of the deceptions in the world aren't any good when your target is a powerful clairvoyant.

Eldrad is currently a Blackstone Fortress. I don't think Vect really has the chutzpah to fight that.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Years of plotting, months of planning, all coming down to a single moment. Vect hid in the shadows as he stalked his unwary prey. Thousands had died to allow him this opportunity. Slowly, he moved closer to his target. The psyker seemed to be in a trance, completely unaware of the mortal world while his mind surfed the spirit realm. Vect suppressed a chuckle as he emerged behind him, silent as night.

"You think it would be that easy, child?" a venerable voice intruded Vect's thoughts. He lashed out, but inches from Eldrad Ulthuan's vulnerable back, he was frozen, and sent spiralling across the room. Slowly, Eldrad turned around, his head cocking slightly as his old eyes regarded the diabolic leader of Commoragh. Rage filled Vect as he recognised the look: dismissal.
"You would be wrong to underestimate me, old fool," Vect spat, beginning to circle Eldrad. In response, he simply sighed.
"But you have already made yours, child; you underestimated me," Eldrad smiled. He locked Vect in his gaze, a nimbus of eldritch energy beginning to coil up from his feet. Vect siezed his opportunity and lashed out. Suddenly, for the first time in his long, bloodsoaked life, Vect felt calm. The lust for death and blood left him behind. He opened his eyes, and could see his elders, those he had killed in cold blood. They were smiling at him, and he grinned back. Slowly, their faces warped. Tranquillity left the dreadlord to be replaced by fear, a fear incomprehensible to the younger races as a beautiful creature appeared. He tried to run as his race's death reached out to him.

"Farseer, what did you do to him?" asked a robed Warlock as he emerged from a psychically concealed area. Two more Warlocks joined the first. Eldrad turned to them with sorrow in his eyes.
"I sent him to his doom, to relive the pain he has caused to others; to our own kin. This was the only way, and he was deserving of that most terrible of fates."
"As you say Farseer."

So that's how I imagine it going down. Just no way Vect could win one on one, almost no-one could tbh. Master psyker, and a decent fighter = dead

I have to disagree on Eldrad's martial prowess but I think the idea that Eldrad would wreck his brain is accurate. Though I don't see either of them sneaking down a dark alley to kill the other.

Vect clawed his way to the top of Dark Eldar society. He is literally bored of winning he wins so much. He is about as pro as pro can be. Eldrad can see the future, and his ass chose to fight slaneesh instead of Vect, nuff said.

Considering that the entire Eldar race (Craftworld, Dark, Corsairs etc.) fear Slaanesh, i'd say that it is pretty clear. Eldrad wins for taking on the bane of the Eldar race by pitching his soul against the warp and not being completely annihilated - the last few stones left active and the one person who believes he can come back is all GW needs for a ressurection of Eldrad in fluff.

That said, Eldrad fighting Vect is extremely unlikely in any circumstance; the Eldar and the Dark Eldar aren't like SM and CSM. SM and CSM despise each other, whereas Eldar and Dark Eldar both acknowledge that they are the last of a dying race, and they avoid conflict with each other; the DE codex doesn't speak of any Eldar vs Dark Eldar clashes, but it does tell of Dark Eldar aiding Iyanden and then plain buggering off instead of turning on them, which speaks volumes, even if they do find the 'necromancy' of wraith-constructs entertaining.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Both the Emperor and Fulgrim would disagree...Eldrad barely escaped his pathetically failed attempt to kill Fulgrim with his life, and could do nothing as Fulgrim and his legion burned every Maiden World in the Sector simply because of Eldrad's . And Eldrad is supposed to be one of the few who know the Emperor's name; either he met or fought the Emperor (of course, He wasn't Emperor then) in the past, and must have foreseen what the Emperor would do...if he couldn't kill/stop/defeat the Emperor, then the Emperor is superior to Eldrad, and so would the Primarchs.

lol copy ideas much?

lol.

anyway i would have to vect the edge on this one. usually in a fight the battle comes down to killer instinct, and vect has it in spades more then eldard. vect had to fight his way from being a slave, to the most powerful kabal leader in dark eldar society. he also has to fend off assassination attempts, and otherwise fight for his life or sport nearly daily. eldard... on the hand is more of a chess playing librarian. if it came down to it, and the fight actually happened (since wouldnt eldrad be able to forsee the battle, his loss and make plans to evade?) - i think vect would pretty much rock his world.

rules wise, vect has a a super powerful weapon, plus an innante knowlege of how to kill eldar in his prefered enemy rules. vect takes it no contest.

The Dark Eldar represent the militant, cult heavy, war hardened ancient houses of the Eldar escaping. The Eldar represent the hippies in communes trying to run away on giant hippie save our race boats.

This is why DE are apex predators and Eldar are just nice guys with awesome hakuna matata powers, I'd give Vect an advantage in a fight any day of the week. He is a warlord of warlords in a society that loves war and winning at any cost.

As a leader Eldrad is a far better character, but as a fighter, Vect is a monster. The dude is so old he needs entire planets to suffer to sustain himself. When your flintstone vitamin is a society dying for you and you look like you're 25, you obviously don't lose fights like... ever.

The latter is unworkable...Space Pope couldn't hope to handle an Eldar Guardian, let alone a Farseer who may have actually met/fought the Emperor in the past.

Vect vs. Abaddon, hmmm...I'll see if I can make a thread for that...

I'd struggle to side with the Space Pope if he was against a Grot. I'd just imagine the Grot bouncing past his guards, jumping onto his chair, and punching him in the face a la MC vs Prophet of Regret in Halo 2.

Farsight doesn't have an Ethereal. He's turned his back on the Tau Empire; any attempt to send an Ethereal to his Fortress Worlds ends disastrously, either having the ship blown into the Warp or getting shot by a sniper the moment the Ethereal lands.

Not really. Xenology practically shows that it's dependent on some kind of pheromone; it only works on Tau. Kroot are mercs, as long as they're paid, then they serve the Tau Empire or whoever they're employer is. Vespid have those mind control helms...Humans, well, more like economic propaganda; kinda like how the US makes Cubans defect by showing them the 'benefits' of capitalism (i.e. freedom to become poor and starve in the US, while you're not free but never go hungry in Cuba) - except that the Tau are actually living up on their end of the bargain.

Eldrad is Wiser, Vect is more tricky and cunning.

Eldrad vs. Vect in an actual fight I have no idea. Game Wise Eldrad would probably win, but fluff wise Im not really sure.

Would I rather be lead by Eldrad or Vect? Eldrad, because If I died with eldrad leading it wouldnt be for nothing, as it easily could be with vects lack of humility.
