Hello Dakka

I am a new IG player so that means lots of tanks. But I'm having issues with the base coat getting in nice and even. I water my paints down but there still seems a little streaky. Don't know if its my brush a bit on the naff side I use gw brushes and paints. Don't have an airbrush, would like one but funds don't allow unless you can recommend a set up for under a 100 English notes. so any tips on painting tanks buy hand would be great.

Cheers

For basecoats and even streaking the camo:

I picked one up on a whim, still using it now for basecoating vehicles, simply because i had the same issue.
Yet to actually work with it on normal models though, only really use it on daemon prince and bigger models.

I asked this same question a month or so back and was referred to this fromthewarp blog post, which I found to be very helpful.

Pop along to B&Q & Halfords & find a spray paint which is the colour you want.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Try this lot;

RGB Tools

It's the same kit but cheaper, their are other cheaper options as well if accoustics and quality are of less importance too. With the added bonus of being a well known hobby company not an eBay outfit.

Failing that the only way to avoid multiple thin coats is spray cans; army painter are probably the best known brand. Checkout Wayland games they will have others too.

Or army painter sprays. If your a guard player id say that £99 airbrush was a good investment tho.

*edit* I see someone posted a cheaper version too
