mate....get outa my head^^

no seriusly... i am always in a state of doubt when making this... as i lack a true education in crafting anything it is always something that drags me down...hence the way too often redo from scratch starts... but why i haven´t made any progress today... my son felix and i went to a big exhibition.... food stuff and animals and such things... it is called the green week... really big one in berlin... and it was a father and son day.... soon he will have to go to school and then we don´t have theese inweek oportunities anymore.... so this was a kind of outtime today... tho i also have to admit... i have a new project bubbling inside me...gosh... i am so easily disatracted...^^

Vik, all you need right now is a "platform atop the legs, that with some gear bitz for showing rotation, and then add the boiler/chassis/etc.

exactly and for now i haven´t really figured out how to do that... but you are stright on the point mate... as for gears... i´ve found some old gears /cogs in my bitzbox... if all lese fails i pressmould them...

Oh now you have to make the platform and gear up that and the chassis, press mould yes! make the platform mostly rectangular except the front, there you angle the front corners so it has a flat tipped boat like front. The you would have something like

O-ITI> sitting atop the legs
O=boiler, - is the connectors, ITI> is the chassis/cockpit the under score is the "platform" just for a layout from the side.

and in fact both vehicles have lend a hand for the desgin... but it is "just" a walker...with the fantastic addition of the steampunk theme too... by the way... tomorrow i will hopefully be able to show a pair of vickers guns that will work as autoguns for the weaponsoutload of the walkie^^

Meh, if it's really bugging you, put it aside for awhile, start something new, finish it later. It's no fun if you're stuck.

Oh btw lol at the Steampunk starwars a few pages ago, great find. Kinda like the short lived starwars transformers toys. IIRC luke skywalker transformed into the millenium falcon........

i still have the han/chewy transformer!

Wow a lot has happened (been ill sorry) Vik don't get into a rut with this mate ….. Push it to one side and start something new then go back to this with fresh eyes so to speak …………… after all it's a hobby if it becomes like work or a chore its time to leave it at least for a while.

It is looking good so far and you have built the basic structure so once you add detail it is amazing how quickly your vision will come to life, it might help to distract your self with something new for a while you might just be getting to entangled in this project.

I find I do this a lot and the break does work (most times) plus you get new ideas on the way

I have even given an idea for lay out to help Vik break his deadlock!

oh mates...it is as if you had a secret cam to my workdesk... i did a sideproject today... just had to do...or my head would have exploded for all my current ideas that i am having... it is still top secret but i will show you my work tomorrow... definite promise... it will then be a very promising wip...an idea i had for quite a loooong time... and finally i have come to terms with it...

I remember the old-skool transformers jumped the shark when you had to rub the little sticker with a warm finger to find out whether it was an Autobot or a Decepticon. That was stupid IMHO. keep it simple, good guys vs. bad guys is a formula that ALWAYS works with kids toys, ALWAYS.

Did you ever notice how stereotypical cartoon/toy bad guys like SW Stormtroopers and Cobra Troopers often wore helmets similar to WW2 German Wehrmacht?

That was the propaganda of the 1970's and 1980's that I grew up with here. Back then, you grew up knowing without a doubt that the Soviets were the bad guys. Now I'm older, I learn that we were just as bad, often worse, even to our own people. Today I can't tell who the bad guy is, everybody is doing someone else wrong.

at dave... back in school we discussed that evil empire schemes in amrican movies... you see this now again with a different background all over again... now it is alien enemies that have other likenesses... more arabic now...

Ah, but you had the two extreme stereotypes, Jawas were the shifty thieves resellers of stolen items that will haggle with you over the price. Meanwhile the Sand-People are the stereo type of the vicious nomads who set out ot rob/pillage/rape whatever they come across.,Both the types one would see in a 1930's serial of which Star Wars was a homage to.

And yeah, once we get older, and become more aware, educated or savvy, you do not see any one in charge as being a good guy anymore, just less or more ready to do you dirty. I saw myself upholding and defending the Constitution, but now realize they could have made me and my unit do something for reasons other than that, thankfully we never did, we just babysat those missiles and never had to launch 'em. Glad to have avoided that so far.

Back on track! Vik just has to work on that chassis and body more and try it out.

Here comes the bull whip lol I love this forum you start with a nice simple hobby update and it turns into a mass ethical political debate, however you look at it , like I have said before there is good and bad in all people blame race colour or religion but in the end it always boils down to human nature.

Wether that be greed, fear or hatred there are a few that will use whatever excuse or means to achieve there goals and corrupt the minds of the rest on the way, I am sure we have all been privy if not guilty to this at some time in our lives if only in the school playground however we grow and learn from such poor and stupid judgments.

Wow now back to the topic I thought German helmets were used for bad guys because they just looked badass and black for bad good for white storm troopers are they not white

also i worked on the cockpit again... made a hatch on the top...used a SM tank hatch for this to later put a gun there...
also i now had a stroke of (at least i see it that way^^) genius for the construction of the boiler... i still had two wooden looking barrels from a recent fleamarket stroll...this is now with some bitz and PC my version of a steampunk boiler...and the best part is it has already a wooden texture on it!!!

well here are some pics... the first show the general shape of the cockpit... it is a bit lopsided...but it is my first major work with PC...after some more cruel tries of mine... and i think where when not in steampunk could you get away with the odd angle in a design?

the legs are still in the outdated fashion...
