I think it looks great Vik! Great idea for the boiler, nice bit!

You did well on the desperately needed improvement of the leg position. Seems to be perfectly balanced now.
Wouldn't know what else to suggest at this stage, partly because I have no idea were you're going with that octagonal torso. Looks like a retired tie-fighter with legs.
I'm curious what you're further plans are.

at baiyuan... yep... that was exactly the look i was aiming for... retired tiefighter cockpit...it is after all too octagonal for this actually but the window was how i wanted the "face" of the walker to look like...

currently i am about to think up a way for the boiler to be connected to the torso and then how to make a convincing connection to the still not "there" engine part... i have absolutly no idea how to make an engine...

at dave, thanks mate...!

Ah, new leg positioning, a planned barrel boiler, (I can see plenty of piping added soon!) and hoses, as well as that thing ready to stomp down the enemy.,

naaa, measure and draw a square, then draw between 2 corners, instant 45'er

well it is me being seemingly unable to cut in precise fashion... maybe i can get to persuade my wife in getting me a cutter like you use for the rods... that would improve my work...but in essence you are right... i should make longer measuring lines and thus have a good/better guidance for the cuts...

That is what I used to make all those 45'ers on the rivet-trim for the floors, just set it and chop away. I used to use the 45 degree marks on my cutting mat before that though, they were never quite right.

HAHAHA Jake, I looked at those others, and I didn't see myself using them as much.

the legs are still in the outdated fashion...

and the boiler in the making...

Some great progress you've made, Vik!

I'm not sure how I feel about the cab yet. It doesn't really remind me of a tie fighter yet, but I think that's because the window is flat, opposed to somewhat dome-like. I'm not at all, in any way, suggesting that you build it dome like. That wouldn't be cool for someone to do.

The legs are a hug improvement, imho!

Boiler looks like a good start, and I like the tau bit on the end as long as you fill the depressions for the antennas. It even has a little, steam punky grate!

the grate was the main reason for me to choose this bit... and yep... i will fill in the gaps of the antennas...

you have a point there with the dome like structure of the window of a tiefighter... does your comment point out the need to actually MAKE it domelike or is it now usable?
after all the general shape of the window is just a nod in the tiefighter direction... a bit of an hommage you could say...

all those untidy gaps will be filled in later on, i plan a bigger filling and filing session in the next days... i don´t like those gaps either...

the pics of the legs you choose show exactly the before and after...and i think it is indeed a good way... the discussion about pistons is not forgotten and will be reopened soon!

and thank you for your thoughts!

That was just me rambling. I think it would look cooler with a domed cockpit, however the cost/benefit ratio of constructing said feature is not good (340 hrs of labor for a slightly cooler model). Now, if you could find a bit somewhere...

I had an ! What if you ditched the top section of your leg assembly? I was looking at the way you have your cockpit aligned with the legs (180degrees from a sentinel) and was contemplating human vs. animal anatomy Humans walk on their feet, while most animals walk on their "toes" giving them an extra length in their leg "assembly" (I hope that's not confusing). If you removed the top section, your leg assembly would resemble human anatomy and, imho, look quite steampunk! Either way (whether you leave the top section or remove it) I think you should lengthen the toes on the front side of the foot. That would help designate "This is the front" and not just look like sentinel legs with the cockpit on backwards.

Those are my thoughts. Take 'em or leave 'em

at rawson... if i ditch like you suggested the upper section if the legs... then the legs would more resemble the legs of a tua crisis unit? hmmm... personally i see why you say this but i actually like that "iron horse" feel to the model...

lengthening the frnt toes is a good idea... i will have to see how this can be done... maybe a GS session could bring this on...

at mordain... thanks for the compliments... i am so itching for making rivets soon... but first the basic shape then the fun with rivets...man... this is a hardship... i was never so eager to make rivets then now^^ i guess it is deep down that i want to be finished with this build^^ rivets are the very last deed on the list before priming...

Yeah but you are judging it before it is done Vik, you can't do that.

Look, if you are painting something with a recipe of say red gore shade, blood red base, and orange highlights...It's like putting the red gore on and then saying "it sucks" and quitting. You'll never get to see the end result that way. You know it won't pop to your eyes until that orange highlight is painted.

Well same thing with your walker, all it is so far is a set of legs and a rough body. of course that is all it looks like so far!

You've been staring at it for two days now, talking yourself out of it.
