13 leftover points.

- At BS4 this has 2x D-cannon large blasts, 1x s6 slowing large blast, 8x s8 missiles, 2x s8 lances, 1x pulse laser, 18 s6 shots. I don't expect much from the lasblasters.
- No Melta, almost no AP1 (it is possible with the Shadow Spectres). All the s8 shooting is AP2 or AP3, the large blasts are AP2.
- 1 turn of night fighting available
- Almost all shooting is 36" or above
- Fragile troops, the 5 man squad is protected but that Falcon will die probly. I just think I need a least 1 fast moving troop to be able to get to far away objectives. JSJ troops are agile, but not fast. Alternative for the CorVU-falcon would be a small jetbike unit.
- Most units are fast, or can JSJ (the squads of 10 and the Wasps).
- No cc ability whatsoever.
- The Nightspinner should help with keeping the JSJ squads out of CC, also their missile launchers could try pinning.
- The Spectres are in this list because the models are so pretty! I don't expect them to be a points effective unit, but they might surprise me.
- The wasps are troop but cannot score. Hornets are more attractive but I am not a fan of large squadrons of vehicles and I'd like to keep a Nightspinner in the list for versatility.

Any comments/suggestions would be welcome!
What would be hard to beat with this list?

Well, you need to keep the enemy armies at arm's length. This can be tough if you fight fast moving armies like DE or deep striking armies, like BA.

Somewhere in the dark...

I, too am putting a 1750 list together - see my list here:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/446922.page

It is a bit different to yours for the reasons that I outlined in the thread, plus I just don't want to put my troops in transports, foolish or not - it's just not the way I want to play.

I have played a few games proxying my GK models as Corsairs now and a couple of things I have found are:

The prince is great. Nightfighting is awesome, as is his S9 AP2 large blast void strike with his BS 6. Trying to fit in another prince is something I am considering.

Shadow spectres are pretty good - their weaponry is nice and the fact that they get a 4+ invul against attacks over 12" means that they can stand forward of your more fragile troops, drawing fire from them allowing them to advance. My only problem is that a 6 man squad with exarch, the exarch powers and exarch weapon upgrade, they are around 247 points. You can take quite a lot for that and I'm not too sure they are an optimal choice when you can take more hornets, wasps, warp hunters, maybe another prince etc etc.

As you said, getting those corsairs troops on foot to objectives is difficult if you don't have much cover. I have found that they do die quite quickly, although taking a felarch means you don't fail too many LD tests.

My list is capable of an awesome alpha strike from long range but I have found that due to the fragility of some of the options, your offensive options can drop off quite sharply.

I really like the corsairs so far. They are interesting to play and can be very powerful - they just take a bit of finesse to see a game out, especially if it goes to 7 turns but the challenge is enjoyable.

Thanks for your replies.

Wuestenflux: Instead of going full out missiles/pulse lasers I brought a bit of s6 shooting for open topped skimmers, and the nighspinner to slow things down. I agree those armies will probably still be a weak point.

ColdSadHungry: The nightfighting ability rocks, I've seen several Necron battles with 2 turns of nightfighting being very effective for them. 100+ points for a single turn is a lot, and you don't get to use the AP2 void strike in that case. Haven't thought about taking 2, will do that, thanks.
I have less scoring troops than you have and that is my biggest worry. I can understand bodies on the table, you need some anti infantry shooting and putting 5 man in a falcon is just paying 45 points for making it scoring. Maybe I should drop the falcon and deploy/deep strike closer to objectives.
