A long time in the making I have finally committed to painting the last leg (heh, literally) of my sentinel project for my traitor guard project. Originally a loyalist sentinel the destroyed remains lay dormant on a hive world undergoing a virulent nurgle plague, its deceased drivers body was animated by the plague, the shattered shell re knitting itself strengthened by the plague, manifesting the screaming skulls of the dead that lay around it. This plagued sentinel now walks amidst the ranks for the fallen guard.

Good job on the weathering, great job on the faces! I think the base is a little bare, but that helps to keep the focus on the model itself. I would personally add something decorative to the base (a shattered helmet, a rock, something) but if you like the austere backdrop for your sentinel, that's a viable artistic decision.

You might be right, the barren basing has pretty much carried over from the rest of my units (and I ran out of big rocks sticking them on my veterans) and whilst is seems to work well for a small base (standard infantry) due to the models feet taking up a significant chunk, the more spindly feet of the sentinel just draw attention to the empty looking base.

Will raid my bitz box and see what I have to litter the base.

My renegades were started the first time I read rumours that the new chaos dex's would come out in 2 parts, one of which including traitor guard. Despite that rumour now having been quashed I love the themes of the unsightly opposition to the imperium so I'm working through a tonne of converted models.

It's nice, but seems a bit too new. Or at least not wrecked, as you described.

The correct question is, would I be enjoying this hobby if I did this?

The correct audience is you.

I like the low walking stance you have the sentinel in . Great work !

The only poorly painted miniature is the one that is not painted.

Fair point, I tried to model on the horns and faces as "erupting" from the hull, to show that where there had once been damaged nurgle plague had burst forth in these ways, and therefore the rest of the hull was airtight so as to contain the plague that animated it.

I'll admit I could of gone for a more scorches/scratched up rest of the body though.
