We play games with my Warhammer Gaming Group that involve a 3v3 at 1000 points. Technically each army is only allowed to be 1000 points big, but since there are 3 of them on one side it's more like a 3000 vs 3000. What I am curious of is just how overpowered is Command Shadowsun and Farsight for the Tau? One of our members would like to play him at 1000 points as his HQ, would you guys let someone do this or is he just too much?

This probably belong in YMDC, Nothing in the Tau dex is very overpowered, they would be fine in the small game.

Thanks for the reply. The only worry is that we typically play KP and it seems like it allows them to condense about 3 KP into 1 giant group.

Shadowsun/Farsight are both pretty underwhelming as Special Characters go, Shadowsun is horribly expensive for a Stealthsuit armed with suicide weapons, and Farsight limits your access to fun things like Hammerheads that are kind of important. Though they're both better than Aun'va.

Limiting what a player can use in a 1000 pt game when they're already obeying FOC and point total seems pretty lame to me. Of course I'd allow it, even if they were overpowered, which they aren't by a long shot.

I'd prevent it just for the guys own sake. I don't see why he would waste the points on a terrible SC that brings NOTHING to the table.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

They both aren't overpowered. TBH I think they both aren't very good. Plus I am pretty sure you can't have them in armies lower than 1500 points.

That's the point. Guys asking permission to bring them in since the point limitation is an old concept and not game breaking to bring them.

Well he really wants to try Farsight out since he always goes suit heavy. The issue he frequently has is that 3 suits in the group are never hardy enough. I think he hopes that bringing a giant Suit Squad around Farsight will prove fruitful for how he plays. And thank you all for the reply, we'll be letting him bring it.
