What's Your Fave\Most memorable 40k Memory.

Mine's probably having my optimistic and contented attitude toward the latest Sisters of Battle codex utterly shattered by my fellow gamers. ^_^

Ahh, you never forget the moment when peer pressure makes your favorite army so unpalatable you avoid the entire game for about half a year in favor of drowning your soul in a frenzy of videogame dragon-slaughter.

Wait, you meant my favorite WH40k memory, not just the most memorable one. ^_^

Umm... Well, I guess it would have to be when my mom offered to play WH40k with me when I was griping about my painted models going to waste with no one to play with. And now she really likes the game.

Hmmm. Lots O' Memories.

I guess my most favorite memory is battling against an entire Eldar Warhost. Three Eldar players, replete with Revenant Titans, against ten seperate armies in Apoc, and me watching the entirety of my Army get vaporized after my Vanquisher's salvo's sent one of the Titan's reactors critical...

I'll never forget my first game. With a small warband of World Eater's I watched a Crimson Fists player and Nid's player slay each other, gladly watching them from a safe distance. The dust settled and a lone wounded Carnifex was all what was left.

So I ran him over with Kharn and called it a day.

I've sold so many armies. :(

Same here man. Sentinel/infantry guard army vs foot chaos back in early 4th edition. Fun times.

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood.

It would have to be watching my mighty, daemon primarch smashing, greater daemon whooping, daemon legion soloing
storm shield wielding 4 wound monster of an hq, fail 4 out of 4 wounds caused by star cannons and promptly die without having taken ANY other shooting, turn one, of a scenario which forced him out in the open by himself.... ahhh may favorite XD

When your wife suggests roleplay as a result of your table top gaming... life just seems right

I took my wife thru the BRB for fantasy and 40k, the first thing she said was "AWESOME"... codex: Chaos Daemons Nurgle..... to all those who says God aint real....

I have a few. Getting my first codex (Chaos space marines 3rd edition) and reading about the Horus heresy is definitely one. Another is watching my Farseer with a singing spear wreck a Monolith in one turn, then turn around and kill the night bringer the next, and make his invulnerable save against the big explosion thing.

My first tournament was also pretty memorable, and a pretty great experience. I lost every game, mostly due to port rolling, but also a few dumb tactical moves, but I still won the sportsmanship award. Even without the award, I wouldn't have been too disappointed. I mostly went to play against some new people and armies anyways, so it was all good.

Last game I lost 3 terminators to 10 bolt pistol shots. I had to make 4 saves and I failed 3 of them.

Yeah. I only ever use them as a termicide squad now. I know that they won't survive a round of shooting (or at least not most of them). It's also one of the reasons I have yet to field obliterators.

Back to the topic, I suppose losing my termies that easily would count as memorable, if not a favourite experience.

I remember the first time I exploded a LR. It was glorious. Bottom of turn 4, CSM managed to get within 6" of the LR with a meltagun, rolled 12 on 2d6 for pen, then rolled a 5. +1 for AP1.

There may have been a victory dance.

Hmm mine would probably be when my adversary laughed at Marbo until the latter blew up a large part of his army with the demo charge (you'd be suprised how many chaos marines can somehow fit under a big blast template), then blew up a Landraider with melta bombs and then went on a mass killing spree in close combat. Never has a single model caused such havoc... He basically made up for my entire army's sucky performance by himself and I won the game... that was epic. Sadly he doesn't always perform so well...

The look on my opponent's face when he charged his demon lord into twenty gaunts.
He smacked a bunch of my gauts around, and then it got to be my initiative. I rerolled my ones, and got something like fifteen hits.
"They're strength three, so they wound on..." he starts.
"Fours." I said with a smug smile. "They have toxin sacs."
His face fell, and two wounds stuck. Lucky for him, it was the daemon lord that could get out of melee. I think I lost the game, but having him go from ubersmug to worried about his daemon prince because of gaunts was pretty entertaining.

"If you really want to know what it was like, to fight in the air in the great War, then go up to someone you have never met and who has never done you the slightest harm and pour a two-gallon tin of petrol over them. Then apply a match, and when they are nicely ablaze, push them from a fifteenth-floor window after first perhaps shooting them a few times in the back with a revolver. And be aware as you are doing these things that ten seconds later someone else will quite probably do them to you. This will exactly reproduce... the substance of First World War aerial combat and will cost your country nothing. It will also avoid the necessity of ten million other people to die in order for you to enjoy it."

last week, the first time I fielded vulkan.

Playing against blood angels where his rhino blew up from a melta blast, killing two tactical marines inside but also managing to kill a sanguinary priest, leaving his sanguinary guard without Furious charge. The guard then charged vulkan's squad, killing the marines but not managing to even hit vulkan. He ended up just shanking them all with his spear after two turns, then got blasted by a melta gun for some nice irony.
