Hahahahaha. Knight is coming along deliciously. Should finish the staining and verdigris tomoro and then chipping/weathering. Started on his base today as well. Thought I'd take a wee break to start on the Magos. Gonna have to scratch build his axe though

It looks really good Januine. The colors work perfectly well together.
The marble looks better on the head and an the back than on the shoulders imho. The "veins" look more natural.

Gorgeous work on that Knight, mate. Loving the marbled effect, and the colours compliment one another very nicely.

Thx so much all. So happy with how he's progressing. Started working on the base this morning. Green stuff is a little old so wasn't as mailable as usual but still working nicely. I'll pop a WiP later on

Morning's progress on the base. Still a bit more GSing to do, then bits of slate to conceal the foot risers and so on from there. Barbed wire came out nicely but damn that stuff hurts to make!!!! Holes in fingers and under a few nails!!!

Gonna echo everyone else and say that that Knight is looking great! Apart from the base, is there really anything left to do on the model?

Most of the plates stilll need to be glued on. All the weapons are magnetised so that's no problem. Once I finish the verdigris, the brass just needs a touch of wear/highlighting. Few more minor decals. The script on the chest and reaper chainsword. Then chipping and weathering on the non-metal parts. Final stains and filth, lenses, and then finishing touches. Seems a lot but it's not really....well, apart from the chipping. That'll take a wee bit of time. lol.

Nice use of the promethium pipes on the base there. I'm considering using one of the space marine casualties for the base of mine. As if the guy was about to be overwhelmed by the enemy, only to have the Knight stomp out to meet them head on and buy time for extraction

wire n staples! the main wire is just two lengths of thin wire twisted around each other and then the barbs are made of normal staples from a stapler. twisted around the wire, clamped tight with a pliers and that's it. damn barbs are pokey though!

Januine, your Knight looks fantastic!

If you don't mind sharing, how did you paint your gold trim and the marbling effect, what paint / process?

I may have missed it earlier in your blog, but it's damn stunning.

Thnks for all the comments folks. Really happy with the base now. I do like a bit of basing!!! The pipe was al red at first but it was way too distracting to the eye and was going to take away from the knight that'll (eventually) be above it so I 'stripped' the paint back to the metal on top. Think that works better now.

Cheers very much Azalle. The marbling was done quite differently to the methid Duncan shows in the video AoV posted above. The method I used is a bit more involved. I used all GW paints and it's done in stages. I wrote/posted a tutorial/step by step on how I did that marbling over on my other plog here - http://warpbound.blogspot.kr/ if you want to have a look. I tried to be as comprehensive as possible but I've never written a tutorial before so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

The brass/gold trim is pretty straightforward. Just layers and washes really. Basecoat of warplock bronze with 2 thinned layers of brass scorpion over that (love that metallic) then wash with ol'faithful Agrax Earthshade. First wash over everything and then go back and add a little more around the rivets and recessed areas. I start the weathering before highlights as the highlights are more showing wear and rubbing on the edges. For the staining on the brass I use coelia greenshade - goes on brass perfectly as the darker base for the verdigris which goes on sparingly next with nik oxide. Finally drybrush the outer edges (places where the metal would take more wear an tear from hitting off things and being rubbed against) with runelord brass and a tiny touch of runefang on the edge of brush to the edges. All GW paints. That's basically it. All about building up layers and stains etc. Hope that helps

Finished the lenses and optics last night and the metals are now all finally done. The only thing left to do now is final weathering and chipping adm we shall be done!!! Mum arrives over here in Korea tomorrow for Christmas and the New Year so I'll finally be getting my hands on all the Mechanicum stuff I ordered from FW 3 months ago!! Happy little Irishman I shall be!!!!

That is a welcome package! i'm seeing a thanatar, a scyllax cohort, servo skulls and Calleb Decima; whats the last one on the right?
The knight is looking beyond great, but would you mind toning down the awesomeness a bit? you're making us all look like amateurs!
I'm looking forward to those scyllax - they'll look fantastic when they're finished! (definetly bend the mechantendrils before affixing them to the bodies - i learned the hard way)
