So today was sitting at home when a song comes on the radio. Some good old Blue Oyster Cult. Hearing this sent me into a downward (upward?) spiral of catching up on some 'older Rock', I say it like that because quiet frankly its hard to Classify BOC, They kinda went everywhere.
Anyways, I'd like to share some of my favorites with Dakka and get their, opinions, comments, and any thing they'd like to share.
BOC: (Burnin' For You and Vengeance [Along with many, many others])

Indeed, I find Cultosaurus Erectus to be great as well, Just kinda been on a bend with Fire Of Unknown Origin as it was Burnin' For You that came onto the radio. For some reason though 'Flaming Telepaths' has to be one of my absolute favorites, Im not sure why either as nothing really spectacular ever stands out about it

I own a bunch of different Blue Oyster Cult albums; them and Pink Floyd are pretty much the only music I get legally. Cuz those guys deserve that money, even if their albums are ridiculously overpriced.

Flaming Telepaths is just awesome though. First BoC track I got hooked on.
Thats true, Pink hold a place in my heart as well.
Just to clarify this isn't only for BOC any 'Classics' are up for discussion. Right now im just following my rock Favorites in the Suggestion bar on youtube. Just made it to 'Turn The Page' By Bob Seger

Speaking of Classics, my nephew is going to join band, and hes REALLY interested in playing the flute. While some people are telling him its a total girls instrument and he should change his mind (Something I never condone personally) I reminded them that the band Jethro Tull is not only fantastically awesome, but their front man Ian Anderson was a BADASS flutist. So anyways, Ive had them on the brain as well
Cheesy? Sure. But that just adds to the over all show I think. I actually wasnt really a fan of them before I saw that DVD, sure they had a couple songs I liked but that was it. Now, feth it, Id rock them anytime But yea, their guitarists are fething insane, and I couldnt believe the drummer was rocking that hard, for that long.
Especially for drummers. Used to see sweat coming out of them on a live show in literal buckets, now its all click tracks and 5 minute breaks between songs :(
I suppose things move on.

That is pretty true. My dad, like any good father, got me into classic rock big time, and I fething love it. So obviously we've seen a few 70s bands live, and their live shows are just fantastic. Even the worst ones are fething awesome Now compare that to most the modern bands Ive seen live, and your correct, their efforts are usually pretty terrible. I used to love Mudvayne, until I saw them live, same with Slipknot (Im talking back when they first came out and their music wasnt utter piss) same thing though, their live shows were just a mess. Oddly though, Disturbed puts on a really good live show, I didnt actually like them until I saw them live. Its funny because I went there to see Mudvayne, and figured Id stay for Disturbed, why not I bought the ticket. I left liking Disturbed more, and liking Mudvayne less.
Godzilla is probably my favourite BOC track. Or maybe the Marshall Plan.
As for other classics, there has been no more awesome musical experience in my life than seeing Rush live. It was mindblowing. They are probably my favourite band from that time and this!

Lyrics: If I leave here tomorrow Would you still remember me? For I must be travelling on, now, 'Cause there's too many places I've got to see. But, if I stayed here with you, girl, Things just couldn't be the same. 'Cause I'm as free as a bird now, And this bird you can not change. Lord knows, I can't change.
Bye, bye, its been a sweet love. Though this feeling I can't change. But please don't take it badly, 'Cause Lord knows I'm to blame. But, if I stayed here with you girl, Things just couldn't be the same. Cause I'm as free as a bird now, And this bird you'll never change. And this bird you can not change. Lord knows, I can't change. Lord help me, I can't change.

Funny story about Skynyrd. My brother the Giant, myself and 2 of our buddies did a road trip to go and see Skynard. We werent familiar with the area at all, and so all 4 of us were looking for this one certain road to take to the concert. While looking none of us realized we were actually speeding by a lot. So we pass a cop, and the guy comes after us. Again, no one notices because we we all talking and getting pumped for the show, and kept looking for the road, and speeding like a mother. So obviously the cop thought we were evading him, and calls for back up. A few minutes later we find the road, turn down it and suddenly theres a big ass road block of police cars, tac strips, the whole shebang. We all got really excited, like WHOA!! Someones in trouble........well it was us. The draw their guns and start shouting at all of us to get out of the vehicle. As we all do, the police pour on us and one of them asked WTF are you running for?!?! Paniced, our friend that was driving, says
"Uhm....we're just going to the Skynyrd concert man, and we were lost!"
Every single on of the cops backed off and the one said "Skynyrd? No gak?........we fething love Skynyrd" and they all let us go with a warning, and the directions to the concert.
So at least in America, they might get you out of robbing a bank
True fact, the band had originally wanted to Vincent Price to do the opening, but they went with Barry Clayton. Which is a pity, cause then the song would have been 10x more awesome than it already is.
And now for something completely different.

Wait, you're telling me Blue Oyster Cult is a classic? My underwear has underwear older than Blue Oyster Cult.
In the words of the immortal bard: if it aint Bach, it aint !
-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG
-"Don't mind Frazzled. He's just Dakka's crazy old dude locked in the attic. He's harmless. Mostly."
-TBone the Magnificent 1999-2014, Long Live the King!
Classical is just classics where all the original listeners died off, 'cept me and Tbone of course. When sandstone was just sand, Tbone was already old.
Now HERE's a bad ass classic:
Wagner would run over Blue Oyster Cult with a bulldozer laughing like a gibbering monkey.

I was all excited to see Tull when they played in New Orleans back in, I believe it was 1988, but I had to work that night at the hotel. Needless to say, I was plenty bummed as I went about my duties that night.
About a couple hours after the concert, up walks the whole band to me since, to my surprise, they were staying there and we got into a pretty good conversation for the next little while about places around New Orleans and the city in general.
