Is it possible? having come from modelling and painting dreadfleet im still in a pirate mood and would love to make my new skaven army piratey
What im asking is is it possible? as im not as up to date with skaven as i used to be lol and im still waiting on the army books arrival.
Any ideas how i could represent this beyond customising my leader with a cool pirate hat "garrr"

Yes, it is.

In fact, there's Clan Skurvy, who maintains the largest fleet in Skavendom..

You know you're really doing something when you can make strangers hate you over the Internet. - Mauleed
Just remember folks. Panic. Panic all the time. It's the only way to survive, other than just being mindful, of course-but geez, that's so friggin' boring. - Aegis Grimm

Completely doable. Try modelling large blocks of skaven slaves modelled to look like other races sailors that have been captured over the armies battles. Lots of room for customization there.

You could also customize the warp lightning cannon to make a gigantic mechanized harpoon launcher maybe?

A lil OT so sorry, but I couldn't help but think of the Redwall series of books. xD

They exist in background, but why should an army of them fight battles on land?

why not?

I say go for it, there was a GW Staffer who was featured on the website that had a huge clan skurvy army. They looked pretty sweet, put plenty of piratical weapons e.g. pistols, boathooks, etc in your stormvermin/clanrats for extra flavour.

Also, you could model all your warmachines to look like bits of boat etc, like the WLC mounted on a ripped-off prow of a boat attached to some wheels, doomwheel could be like the FW empire land boat war wagon thing, HPA is some rotting hulk of a sea creature brought back to life with warpstone and magic etc etc...

The possibilities are endless, well, not endless, I mean, your wallet will be empty eventually
