So I was wondering what kind of pets do people have in the 41st millennium? Is ir like cats and dogs or is it some lesser creatures from different planets

More or less both. Then it'd vary widely depending on planet and average wealth of the citizens on it. If they struggle to feed themselves they're not likely to want to get another mouth to feed and I don't doubt there would be a few governors out there with more exotic pets.

I think n0t_u pretty much has it.
Several of the books talk about the exotic pets from different worlds owned by Inquisitors/Governers/Lords etc. Usually it's some kind of *insert planet name here* Squirrel Monkey.
I imagine some of the quirkier big-wigs might have servitor pets as well. If they can make butlers out of lobotomized people, I imagine they could make a brain-in-a-jar dog. Actually that would be 10 kinds of awesome...

The Adeptus Arbites have cyber mastifs and grapplehawks that they seek on criminals, I'm not sure if those count or are they more like servo-sculls/minions.
The Eldar have some cat/lynx thing that is psychic, grynx I think it was, Orks have squigs, though I'm not sure they understand how the "pet" thing works as they also eat/ride/shoot(use as ammo)/get eaten by them.
There was one inquisitor that had a two headed eagle.

Pterasquirrel! That's the one. I believe they mention it a few times in the Eisenhorn Trilogy.

Very few pets are mentioned in fluff. This may be that very few novels are based in Imperial society.
from what i can remember:
Theres a Chronicler (what would be a librarian in this day and age) with a Cyber-raven in one of the SW novels.
Various dogs are used in various novels, but these are most commonly used as beasts of war as opposed to pets.
cant thin of any others at the moment, will chime in again if i do..

Gyrinxes are intelligent felines that attach themselves to psykers; other than that and the occasional cybernetic haemonculus, nothing comes to mind.

Fair enough. Could have done without the condescending tone, as I was going by memory, but thank you for the correction nonetheless.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

There was no condescention DoW, i literally finished re-reading them on Sunday and i couldnt think of any time that any sort of pet is mentioned, hence my confusion as to where the memory came from. No harm, n ofoul. Tone is difficult to convey via text, my apologies.
Glad i could help
