Hi all,

I recently got my hands onto a warhound titan and a contemptor dread as well as various other resin models and I'm struggling to keep them together, i've already pinned them using cut up needles and glued them using GW super glue (the one for the metal models) but the glue isn't strong enough.

so my question is what glue do you use ?

and does it work?

Loctite super glue, gel control variety.

Its got the bond of super glue but the poseability of a plastic glue. The gel control gives you about 15-30 seconds of working time and its bond dries clear, irrelevant, as you are painting over.

Works great and its cheaper by a few bucks than the GW brands which arent that great to begin with.

have you tried Zap a Gap super glue or the Galeforce 9 super glue both are extremely strong. The Gale force 9 ones are fairly easy to get access of in melbourne at Good Games or Mind Games in the City.

Superglues can be got from most hardware stores.
Most are cheaper and better than the GW labelled one.

The Zap stuff (try Melbourne Hobby Centre - Swanston St, upstairs near KFC) should be available at any decent hobby store (otherwise Hearns' Hobbies might have it - Flinders St).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

The black Fillaglu is also very good, it is rubberised or something so it is less brittle, and it fills up empty spaces which helps if the pieces don't match up 100%.

While I too am a fan of the Loctite Super Control Gel, if you can't find that exact one don't get too concerned. It's the class that matters - any gel-type superglue that's of a reputable brand is likely to serve you well.

Gorilla Glue also works nicely too - there are 2 different versions, you want the superglue one.

If you're gluing resin, the strength of the bond isn't too much of a concern (unlike metal-metal bonds). All superglues work just fine.

Try to get the 'gel' type of superglue/cyanoacrylate. It's a much better flow at times and easier to control than the watery flowy normal superglue.

The big issue you may be having:
1- Superglue dries relatively quickly. Don't use an accelerant/catalyst unless you need to, and work efficiently.
2- Superglue has a high affinity for itself. Don't use too much else the glue will bond to itself and create a 'chunk' of dried glue that bonds with itself more than it bonds with surfaces.
3- Superglue doesn't bond to smooth, flat surfaces rather well. slash grooves with a knife on the contact surfaces.

I've glued together all-resin Forge World vehicle models using crappy Walmart-brand superglue and they've held fine.
