So, im going to be playing my friend soon, using my Khornate Daemons for the first time (been doing Nurgle daemons for a long time, so i understand how to use daemons). He will be using the Old GK army i sold him...problem is i also gave him my old Dreadknight...Last time we played i used Ku'gath's pie plate to kill the DK at long range. Khornate daemons dont have that though...and while all my characters have Blessing of the Blood God, i dont believe it will ward off Dark Excommunication.

So, question is...do i throw my Soul Grinder at it? Should i take Tongue JUST to go DK popping? Should i instead throw MC after MC at it to ensure no 2+ saves?

Any help or suggestions....greatly needed Thanks guys.

Just toss a higher initiative MC at it for best results.

That, or the demon equivalent of a plasma rifle squad to ignore its armor at range. (I've never seen demons on the table, but I am familiar enough with GK)

You could also maybe use a bloodthirster, that seems like it would win in CC.

As just said, skulltaker wil clear up the issue fairly quickly provided you have average dice luck.

Failing that, use a thirster.

....that...is...PERFECT.

I had completely forgotten about Skulltaker. As his 'kill on a 4+ rending' isnt a daemonic gift, Dark Excommunication wont effect it. And as i have him leading a mob of 5 bloodcrushers, he is almost guaranteed to get into CC alive.

Now, on further reading, it seems DE only works on one unit at a time. Would it be permissible if on the turn in which my bloodcrushers charge the DK, i split skulltaker off again? so that the DK is gettin charged by Skulltaker alone and the unit of bloodcrushers he just left? Maybe i can try and force my friend to pick which unit he'ed least like to be raped by.

DK isn't too good against Greater Daemons. On average (assuming it succeeds in all of its Dark Excommunication rolls) Bloodthirster and KoS will kill it easily and even LoC will give you over 50% chance of killing DK.

Princes don't work that well because their basic statline isn't as good and chances are you're not gonna benefit from any Gifts.

Well, it seems from all the feedback i've gotten, that i really have quite a few options to put the DK in its place. I knew for a while that Daemons have a lot of strengths against GKs (especially when they dont field interceptors with pesky Warp Quake powers), but still that big ol' dreadknight scared the bajeezus out of me

The problem with the DK is when they take the Flamers and Teleporters. Otherwise, I throw a MC into him or multi-assault it with a pair of rending units.
