Death Korps of Krieg
Mechanized Army with Air Support
Moving and studies are cutting my hobby time down and I'm therefor considering selling my huge Death Korps project. It's a sweet Forgeworld army that looks good and plays extremely well. I have enough infantry models and big choice of special weapons along with multiple vehicles to go for different army builds.
THE ARMY
There is a total of 17 vehicles (including 3 Fliers), 6 Cavalry, 8 Heavy Weapon teams and 85 infantry models
I'll give a breakdown with pictures and a short description after each and I'll finish up a summary.
3 Valkyries/Vendettas. Wings and nose-mount is magnetized and the heavy bolters can be brought out or left inside, depending on your preference. The Vendettas are built using
FW's upgrade kit. The bases are built using lots of plastic bits and made to look like the rest of the armies bases. If the Valkyrie/Vendetta is exploded it can be used as a crater too that looks quite nice.
4 Hydras. All are bought from Forgeworld. This little beast for 75pts is my favorite unit in the entire game and with the upcoming inclusion of fliers in
40k, this already awesome vehicle will probably be even better. I usually play them in 2 squads of 2, protected by a wall of Chimeras.
1 GW Manticore, 2 Forgeworld Leman Russ Demolishers. I always bring one Manticore. They are good for 1) forcing players to spread their Paladins or threaten to
ID alot of em, 2) make players cry when their Thunderwolves are
ID and 3) have a reliable chance to kill AV13-14 when meltas are out of position. I usually field the Manticore alongside 4 Hydras but the Russes can see some more friendly play and are good to protect your AV12 wall (Chimeras, Hydras). The Russes are built with the
FW kit, and it doesnt show too well in the pics, but these ones:

Devildog and 2 Dakka-Chimeras. The devildog is probably more cool than good, but it packs a Multi-melta cannon and a hull Multi-melta. As it is side AV12 it can also be used to protect the flanks of your Chimeras. I rarely use it except in friendly games since 3 Vendettas are usually the better option I think. The 2 Chimeras are armed with Multilasers (converted on the
SM Predator turret, which I think look ALOT better than the standard turret) since it makes it look more like a light tank than just a silly box), Heavy bolters and Heavy stubbers. They cost 65 pts each and dish out 9 shoots/turn each. They are awesome for shifting Tacticals/Grey Knights off objectives or take out Long Fangs. Set a cheap troop inside it and they can guard your own objectives/quarter/deployment, you can even give them a Heavy Weapon team to shoot out of the hatch. The stubbers are the
FW-ones with a Death Korp gunner. 2 two Chimeras are among the few vehicles in my army that comes without track guards (I use both the old plastic ones and some from Forgeworld for the rest of my vehicles), this is mainly because I think it fits having this defensive vehicle looking lighter than the other chimeras with heavy flamers that are more of an assault vehicle.
4 Chimeras 4 "standard" Chimeras armed with Multi-lasers and Heavy Flamers. Stick a couple of Veterans inside with Meltas or Chimeras and go on the offensive. They are good for a Command Squad too and are really the bread and butter of
IG. Built with the awesome turret of the Predator with a shortened barrel to represent a Multi-laser.
8 FW Heavy Weapon teams. 6 Autocannon teams, 2 Lascannon teams. These are great to either spread around in the army or just use as squads of three. They offer great variety from the standard Veteran Mechanized army to play more defensively and laying down massive fire with different orders. They are mounted on Microarts bases "Trash". For variety some are built with random plastic bits.
5 FW Death Riders. Mounted on Microarts bases "Trash". These I usually play as Rough Riders in friendly games. They are not terrible and can finish of squads of Marines or Terminators that have been softened by your awesome shooting, besides, they look badass and are probably the reason I decided to go for Deaht Korps in the first place.
FW Death Korps Officers and Standard Bearers. 8 Officers, including both from the
HQ sets from Forgeworld. This allows you to go for 8 different sorts of squads in your army (enough to fill 2
HQs and 6 Troop slots). 2 Standard Bearers, 1 Vox-caster (I've used him to represent Officer of the Fleet at times). All mounted on Microart bases "Trash".
FW Death Korps with Special Weapons. 9 with Plasmaguns, 8 with Meltaguns (there is also an additional 3 Meltagunners in Carapace armor) and 3 with Flamers. Some of these are built from weapons included in the Forgeworld set, as well as from 2 weapon upgrade kits. The rest are built from the smallest weapons I could found and works well together. Alot of special weapons are really the biggest problem when building a Forgeworld army to play as
IG that can field so many. All of these weapons offer great tactical flexibility when building the army and lets you field all kinds of Infantry Platoon setups as well as massing Veterans. All mounted on Microart bases "Trash".
FW Death Korps Infantry with Lasguns! 32 ordinary Death Korps of Krieg, a good mix of "Firing" and "Advancing" ones. All mounted on Microart bases "Trash".
Not finished YET. 7 Battle Psykers, 1 Death Korps Commissar and 5 Carapace Death Korps (Stormtroopers that were meant to have Meltaguns). All mounted on Microart bases "Trash".
This is a full Company Command Squad, using Straken, 3 Meltagunners, 2 Bodyguards, Medic, all of them in Carapace Armor. Straken is represented by a Dark Angels Space Marine and fits his stats well. The medic is a cute catgirl from the Infinity range. The Bodyguards and Meltagunners, together with the Stormtroopers that are yet to be painted can be used together instead to field 2 squads of 5 Stormtroopers, each with 2 Meltaguns. This squad is a beast in combat and actually gives your
IG a punch in
CC. He can be used as counter-charge or actually leading several squads into attrition war in
CC. All mounted on Microart bases "Trash".
Limited Edition and extras. Of course this army wouldn't be complete with a few Limited Editions. Here are 3 objective markers. The first one is the
FW Limited Thunderbolt pilot that needs rescuing. Then there are 2 Dark Angel marines to rescue (which ties in good with my representation of Straken). Included is the mounted Limited Edition commissar that I sometimes use as an officer for my Rough Riders. There is a Microart exploded vehicle marker that is painted to match an exploded Chimera. a Forgeworld Psyker that has been converted to fit a loyalist force. I use him as a Primaris Psyker that actually dish out a fair amount of S6 ranged attacks. I have my own version of Marbo, based on the lovely model for Secrets of the Third Reich Ilso von X. I call her Natya (as a pun on Tanya, just as Marbo is on Rambo.) All mounted on Microart bases "Trash".
The biggest problem with this army for a good deal of time was transportation. Then I bought this one and I haven't been happier. It fits the infantry for one army. 12 Vehicles AND 3 Vendettas, as well as dices, armybook, measuring band and everything.
PRICE
The models/bases/bag (not counting characters or limited edition models/extras) costs 1368£ new in store. I'm not sure what I'm looking for really. The effort put down into this project is quite big and now everything has come together to form a cohesive good looking army that performs well. I'm just sad I don't have the space or time to use it and I hope I can get a good offer on it.
SHIPPING
Whatever sort of payment we agree on I'll require us to insure and make the package trackable. If possible we might look into some sort of payment on arrival deal (I used UPS for that once when I bought a TV and it worked wonders). There is also the possibility of picking the army up in person somewhere in Sweden.
