So, its still on the website after the price change, but has been bumped to $135, a 35% increase.

Ordered a 40K Strongpoint (two Bastions and three Aegis Defense Lines) from Warstore and was told it was discontinued.
Was able to order it from directly from GW yesterday though, and it is still on the site today which is the last day of the old prices.
The Strongpoint is not listed in the new price listings, supporting the Warstore saying it is discontinued.

A look at the pricing may tell the story
Current price $90 gets two bastions @ $30 each plus three Aegis kits at $24.75 each for a savings of $44.25

New price for the Bastion is $41.25 and the Aegis kits will be $29.75 each making the new total for the kits in the Strongpoint box $171.75.

If you have any interest in these kits, RIGHT NOW would be the time to order the Strongpoint...

Also noted that the Aegis Defencse Lines kits include a quad flak gun that could be easily adapted to a Chimera to make a Hydra.

I tried the same a couple of Months ago at Triple Helix.
The said they were not able to get the scenery sets any more, as GW were taking them back as exclusive to GW.
So, you might see it on GW's site, but resellers have been denied the chance to sell it, I heard.

I also ordered Fortress Of Redemption and Sanctum Imperialis at the same time and those two orders were filled.
Fortress Of Redemption and Sanctum Imperialis are also on the new WarStore price list at higher prices, so I don't think this an issue with resellers not being able to get the kit.

I called this about 12 months ago (no Krooty, cant trace it!).

My point was, in short, that 6th (impending) is going to go scenery/terrain heavy, rather than what we see these days (I never made judement on boards - I always liked more terrain - but most tourneys got by with jack ^&$*).

Point is - imho, the GW terrain kits were great value for what you got. Check out what can be built: £/kit ratio in 2009/11. I said that 12 months ago?

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/365030.page

GW are going to make terrain and scenery/BOS/BLOS/cover/saves/hit "if in cover" key.

*salt pile* but we will see

The price increase isn't anywhere near as bad as I was fearing. The tac squad didn't even go up in price at all. The only things that majorly went up were the land raiders and the stormravens.

At $87 dollars I think the new price on the Raven is enough to be a major turnoff for me without having to consider the rest of the line. It shows the general lack of understanding GW has for the willingness of its customers to continue buying their product.

Yeah but I don't even want a stormraven so oh well I guess. I know where you are coming from, but I like the 40k universe too much to stop playing.

I aggree, I'm going to keep playing. The problem is that GW doesn't make money off of players, they make money off of model sales. I have an army thats nearing 4k in points. Without a major required restructuring of my forces in sixth I doubt I'll purchase a GW model in the future. I can't afford it. This hobby is now too rich for my blood.

I hear you. If I didn't have armies mostly done i'd quit.

It looks like I can still get all the terrain pieces they make. The strongpoint is just a combo box that basically gives you an aegis defence line free. Just like holiday army combo boxes, these things are almost always direct from GW.

I just added the cost of getting 2 bastions and 3 aegis lines at my normal price and it's only $128.81. If I drop ship that to someone in the US it still ends up being < $135, barely. Now that the battleforces have gone up in price I bet buying the units individually is better as well.

Who knows how long i'll be around though. GW seems to have a deathwish for all their retailers. I don't think we've sold to more than 3 customers since this price increase about a week ago. 6th edition sales will probably determine whether this still has a future or not, for us at least.

The Seattle bunker is still having brisk sales, especially of the new fliers. I've no idea how things will be in a few months time.

On a slightly tangental topic, how long does PP usually take to ship out their seasonal army sale box after you put in the order?

Asking me? I have no clue because 99% of what we sell is GW stuff. I have no clue why, but now that's all we really focus on. Might change though.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

A long while back I ordered a pair of Honoured Imperium sets from Maelstrom. A few months passed and I asked what was taking the order so long - everything else in the order had shipped and arrived.

The answer was that GW was considering making the HI set Direct Only. GW decided against that eventually, and within a week of that changing my HI sets showed up, but they could be going back to Direct (and store) Only for terrain and not sending it to distributors.

That'd be a real shame. There is nothing I love more than GW terrain (except for the odd misstep). I've got oodles of it.

So you picked one item of the leaked and confirmed price hike list http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/451127.page and started a new thread to confirm that it indeed gets more expensive?

As much as I hate duplicates, there was a theory that the imperial strongpoint itself was discontinued.

I wish there had been an easier way to find the list of prices in text format in that thread (i.e. the OP never edited it in!). I just ended up searching Kroothawk's posts for the name of the boxset I was wondering about, and found it that way

Considering that the strongpoint was originally intended to be a "splash" release, I'm surprised it's still around.

Please read the second paragraph of the OP. Was told by Warstore that it was discontinued and it was NOT listed in the Warstore price increase list (the only complete list I have seen), so I thought I would alert people to the possbility that it might be discontinued. When I found out two days later that it was not discontinued, I revised the first post to reflect the new information.

165$ in Canada. It's making more and more sense to make your own terrain.

Said it in another thread, but I don't think the big price rises on flyers and terrain are accidents with 6th edition looming. I suspect 6th edition will bring rules for specific GW terrain pieces, WFB-style.

I wasn't aware of the WFB rules concerning buildings, although I did hear that rivers are not simply impassable terrain. Does this have anything to do with the kits like the stairs to nowhere et al?
