Hey all,
Just wanted to get your thoughts on something, how viable do you think a stormtalon would be for a Vendetta conversion base?
I actually quite like the model but can't shake the feeling that, to me, it looks like something more Guard-y than Marine-y. More of an attack chopper feel.
Was thinking replace the assault cannons with lascannons in the chin turret, then either find somewhere else for the last pair of lascannons, or covert some extra targeting style gubbins to represent it.
Only potential speedbump is the transport capacity, so not sure whether just to never use that feature in game (I like to play fair, if it doesnt look like it can transport, and it's my choice to use that model, I will sacrifice transport capacity) This is also a similar problem for my idea of scratch building a fighter/flyer and counts-as vendetta.
Would be great to hear your thoughts,
Ta

It's a very small model, while a vendetta is pretty big, bigger than a standard stormraven even, so unless you're prepared to do ALOT of work on it, I'd say you might take some heat on it. Personally, as long as it's well done I wouldn't care, but since LoS & range is checked to the model for purposes of shooting that's where it could become an issue.

The transport capacity is rather key for the valkyrie and the vendetta, so it might be a bit funky to use a stormtalon. However it would make an awesome Vulture. You could even use the assault cannon as punishers.

I think if you are willing to voluntarily forgo the transport capacity, then go for it!!
I would just leave off the assault cannons completely, and integrate 3 lascannons into each side of the hull. Or you could mount some on top of the fuselage quite effectively.
Another way to do it would be to use the big missile pods, and replace each of the 6 missiles with a lascannon barrel?
I think the LOS issues work both ways, and the base is the same size, I certainly would have no trouble with it, but perhaps say it "counts as" being wider for shooting purposes when its taking fire.

Cheers for the thoughts guys, I must admit I completely forgot with regards to the LOS of it. My bad.
After some thinking I reckon I will stick with converting the standard valkyrie, but if I scratch built flyer with roughly the same sizes and the valkyrie do you think people would be cool with it? Thinking along the lines of a thunderbolt style aircraft, but with load-out to match the vendetta (and forgoing the option to transport troops)
I'm not entering tournaments, so just friendly games, getting back into the game after a few years break,
Sorry about the jumping-around of ideas here.
