So I decided to convert my Raven to double as an Eagle if I choose. I already had built it with the Chapterhouse conversion kit so to modify it further I moved the engines & wings back, trimmed the length of the tail, turned the tail to the vertical rudder & then split the horizontal stabilizers. I attached these to the extended engine housings I built out of landspeeder engine housings. I used the old engine mounts as canards since a bird of this size and shape will need the extra lift.

I moved the nose gear backward over the old flying stand attach point & converted the quad landing gear into more standard tricycle gear. I also built a drop door for rapid disembarkment when in hover.

I built the Vengeance launcher out of the old intake and IG sentinel missile launchers.

For times when I want to use it as a stormraven, I added attach points for LRC hurricane bolters & a TLPC chin turret.

My apologies, this shouldn't be here, my internet provider was acting up as I was posting it so I'm not sure how it ended in the Showcase forum instead

It looks good, but it's not Stormeagley. I just can't see it as being small enough

No offence bu you should really put more effort into painting the pilot, and not just having him yellow.

@ TheAngrySquig - I think you are confusing the new Storm Talon with the Storm Eagle: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/STORM_EAGLE.html

@ Red Starrise - interesting bash.

I think that the repurposing of the air-intake as a mount for the Vengeance launcher is a great idea!

The repositioned landing-gear and the chin-mount look a bit wonky to me - perhaps the finished product will make these look more convincing.

The weakest part of this are the "canards" - they are so thick they look more of an air brake than anything that would help lift.

Still, it is not a bad idea.

You are all correct in that it's not finished, as I said, I'm really not sure what happened, when I was in the process of posting the thread my ISP dropped me totally so it was stuck in limbo for like 5 min, then when it came back up it gave me a 404 error, so I hit back, when I did, it was there... so since it is NOT finished it should not have been in the showcase.

I do agree the canards are a bit thick, I'm getting a stormtalon soon so I'll probably wait to finish the painting til I get it since I'm going to modify it to look better by chopping up the tail & I'll use the wings as the new canards, so we'll see how it looks then. As for the chin mount & nose gear, it does sit just fine on both, though from the pic I think the nose gear looks crooked, but I think, oddly enough that's the angle I shot it at.

As for laserhooves, really?

"Be Polite" is a pretty firm rule here on Dakka Dakka - and doubly so in the Painting and Modeling areas.

Please re-read the rules of this site - there's a link in my signature.

And please refrain from making comments like this moving forward.

Ok, here's a few more:

This is a side view, showing it sitting on the landing gear with the chin turret in place:

Here's a closeup of the chin turret & nose gear:

Finally, a top view

@laserhooves: Would you care to post a photo of any of your scratch-built works-in-progress? OR you could flip thru redstarrise's VAST gallery of posts to see his scratch built titan out of cereal boxes. Or his kit bashed IG air force. Or his Space Wolves. Or the totally moded demon prince and green stuffed obliterator retinue. You know... If you have time.

I may have to pinch your idea for the intake, that's really cool. It'll probably remain as an intake whenever I do finally make mine but it looks a lot better than the tower of suction it is now...

I realise it's unfinished but the weathering seems a tad extreme, will it be scaled back or are you going for a real hard use look?

Yeah, I'm building this army set during the Great Scouring when the Imperial Fists were on a crusade to wipe the traitors from the galaxy. As such I want the army to look really hard, worn & battlefield maintained.
