I recently bought the Green Knight because I really like his model and fluff, but didnt really think it through on a list building level as I mostly play 2000 point games and have decided that I need a prophetess and cant really fit him in. So I am thinking of just using him as a Bretonnian Lord and equiping maybe the sword of might so that he is WYSIWYG. Is this common or do most people just use him as "the green knight"?

find it hard to comment as prefer to use my brets in smaller pts games where there not as outmanouvered but i doubt many people would care about WYSIWIG and he is a cool looking model

Just to point out, WYSIWYG isn't as an important concept in Fantasy like it is in 40K. Don't feel like you need to constrain yourself just because a model has a sword.

I have a friend who does it regularly. As long as you say he's a Lord, you'll be fine.

That's what i run. He looks way better than the lord model imho No one has ever given me problems for it. Like others have said, WYSIWYG is not really important in fantasy.

Not to mention the BRB points out that just because the generic magic item is called a "sword of _____" doesn't mean it has to always be a sword; it can be an axe, a hammer, etc. etc.

There should be no problem with it, especially if you are running him attached to a unit. The green knight cannot join units, so being in the front rank should alleviate some confusion about him.
