So I'm flirting with starting a demon army, but I am running into a serious issue.

I want a nice block of Horrors for the Changeling and all the goodness there.

But I utterly LOATHE the horror models, both the current melty-tentacly things and the old "high five" horrors. Does anyone know of anything that would work well as a conversion or alternate model?

I've seen dryads painted up as living flames. Didn't look bad. Tzeentch is all about fire. Could try that.

Do Dryads and Horrors have the same base size?

you could maybe modify DE: mandrakes from 40K and paint them up since they have fire licking about them anyways and just put them on square bases. Of course the Dryads would work too...

Yes.

Cool, I'll look into Dryads. But man...that Mandrake idea is really cool too.

Could do a whole themed force of Dark Eldar-y Chaos Demons. Incubi Bloodletters and so on. Though I'd be grasping at straws for appropriate Greater Demons and Heralds.

As a side note, since you guys are so helpful, does anyone know of any good alternative Bloodthirster models? I dig the Forge World one, but my dream model is something along the lines of an armored Belakor. Does there exist anything like that?

What about Necron wraiths or Flayed ones? They might look kinda cool painted like horrors.

Doombull with wings.

Model's frikken 'uge. Sources(Whitedragon) tell me he's even bigger than the Bloodthirster. Lacking a Bloodthirster, I can only take Whitedragon at his word, but he's a great guy IRL, so I trust him.

Also the Balrog mini would work great

Hmm...well I'm not totally stuck on having it have the bull-like semblance of the usual Bloodthirster.

I think the biggest things for me is to have a model that has ferocity, but isn't all "WARRGHBLHARGE" crazy as the Thirster or plastic Deamon Prince. I used Bel'akor as an example of that. He is scary and fierce yeah, but he isn't just some slavering beast. Bonus points to this model if I can find aw ay to convert or add a greatsword to it.

Honestly, I mentioned it cause the model's enormous and armoured.

I should also mention that Be'lakor is TINY, something that pictures aren't very good at expressing. There's so much room left on his base. Seriously, you could swap the bases of the Doombull and Be'lakor and I'd believe it if you told me that was the correct bases for each.

Yah Belakor would fit on a cavalry base nicely.

Also look at some of the Tyrinad models for maybe a bloodthirster Idea they could easily be modified into a demon looking model....

I like the balrog idea. I used it back in seventh and equipped him with a firestorm blade. Plus one S flaming, already magical attacks. It helps that the balrog has a flaming sword option.
It also helps that wings don't count for purposes of targeting, so don't worry about the ridiculous wingspan hurting you.

i would look at the various dragons the fantasy has on offer as a GD proxy or there abouts, i have really wanted a dragon (not a big bird) for my daemons and i think if you mod a couple of dragons or something you could make a beast.

After some searching, I'm kinda liking the big version of this guy. http://static.shopify.com/s/files/1/0034/6452/files/en-comparatif-small-big-Kahn-Urkan-2.jpg?1272564322 with the helmet on.
