It appears after all of the spoilers that all of them will definately be worth their point cost and are wonderful key center pieces to an army.

Now thats not to say they are GREAT in every list, but they are very good up to amazing with the right support and casters. It will take a while after their release to decide where they actually fit in, and what effect they'll have on the meta.

My opinion thus far, I'm pretty sure the Stormwall is the best Colossal thus far. Hordes Gargantuans I feel are going to be less effective, cost more, and not be as widely accepted but this is based upon the Mountain King release. I'm not saying he's bad (on paper), but he doesn't really bring anything new or needed to the faction. He's anything but a weapons platform like the Warmachine versions are and they have so many heavy beaters who can not only get the job done, but are waaaay cheaper and can bring more fury generation on the table. I'm not sure what the Gargantuans will bring to the Hordes factions.

Time will tell. Can't wait to see what the Archangel will do! Big Dragon on the table FTW. (Please don't suck~!)

I greatly disagree that the stormwall is the best.

They are all good in their own way for the colloss

So far the Menoth one will be extremly Solid for what it does, ret has a large aoe with crit consume...

Then again.. they are 18-19pts each.. Huge base, extremly easy to charge.

Cryx can Parasite a 19pt model, pdenny feat for another -2 armor, bane thralls for another -2 armor.. The more points in 1 spot, the more effective it makes debuff spells like above.

They have nice rules, they arent over the top.. They are well done.

Khador - conquest
Cygnar - Stormwall
Cryx - kraken
Protectorate - Judicator
Retribution - Hyperion
Mercs - Galleon

I like the idea of the collossals, I've even got a kraken on the way thanks to a ninja shopper. but they are in no way an auto include with anybody. At 50 points I have to think hard about taking one. 75 points it'll be in there to save on time in tournaments. But I'm having to think long and hard about which casters can help the big guy out.

As for if they are worth their money. That really depends on you. They are mostly lovely models that will look stunning when painted correctly and good with tabletop paint standards. Some people are getting them just for that reason. Myself, I'm a gamer who is getting one to learn about it's interactions with my army.

I'll be picking up the Kraken for Cryx and the Conquest for Khador

And also the Archangel for Everblight.

Eventually I'll buy the Judicator for menoth when my collections bigger.

Hopefully I'll get the Cryx and Conquest early and cheap as I'll be exibiting them at my LGS open day, but it may come out too late :S

Colossals represent a great entry point for a new player. Point-for-Dollar they're one of the most efficient purchases you can make for building a new list cheaply.

As far as I can tell, they're all pretty reasonably balanced but the Stormwall does come out in front mainly because it is absolutely punishing versus infantry and stealth lists. This thing can completely thumb its nose at a Bane horde, which is not really something the other Colossi can claim. It also hasn't really been fully "balanced" (meaning toned down) to dilute the effectiveness of Arcane Shield while the Menoth one more or less has been with DW. So it's medium usefulness in a heavy/colossal killing role, about on par with most, but a bit better as a shooting platform and far better as a denial platform.

Arcane shield has always been better on heavies then defenders ward

Im still out on Who is the best at anti infantry.

Id lean toward Judicator and the Ret one.

Im not really sure what the Kraken best used for. Maybe to break sheild walls or something.

I dont think it could stand up to the other Colossals in a straight fight.

Not without eating some guys first.

Unusual to see a switch from souls to "meat" too. Still souls were never effective. I dont know anyone who made much progress going after souls.

Cryx? In a straight fight? Very rarely happens. We cheat to prevent fair fights as they mean we lose.

What?

No, really, what are you talking about?

Most are around $130 for around 20 points, for around $6.5/point.

Compare:
infantry, many new units (not all) are $50 for 8-10 points ($5-6.25/point)
light warjacks mostly run around $19 for 4-6 points ($3.15-4.75/point), with outliers like bonejacks (
the new heavy kits for $35 mostly run 6-10 points ($3.5-5.8/point)
solos tend to be in the $10-15 range for 2-3 points, with some exceptions, probably averaging around $5/point
character warjacks, which tend to range around $5/point, with some more expensive than this
battlegroups, minus warcasters, tend to be around $3-3.5/point
the 2-p starter sets, of course, a great bargain

Things that are actually more expensive by point:
-some of the more expensive infantry
-artillery (which are generally avoided because of cost)
-support units (which are cheap in-game, in order to be useful for their cost)
edit: I forgot cavalry, which have been toned down to give jacks the spotlight

These tend to run around $10/point, but many are less frequently taken because of this, unless they're spectacular.

The new guys in town are actually on the high side of average, above most models, but below the occasional spike.

As Cryx I fear the Stormwall the most with all of its infantry hate it has going on. The Galleon is going to be the most killy of the bunch though with that harpoon and rapid fire AOEs.

I have a feeling that I'm going to be picking most of the colossals and gargantuans up on eBay. Just from a modeling perspective, I love the way that all of them look (Every time I look at the Woldwrath prototype I drool).

I'm so glad I switched over to this game when I did, and the Colossals make me even more glad.

I may skip on the Kraken, Mammoth, and Mountain King though. The Conquest, Stormwall, and Woldwrath are definite buys, the rest are a possibility.

I agree, I am quite worried about most of them. Goodbye mechanithralls and banes. They'll even do decent damage to the helljacks. Interesting times are ahead

I can see immune to blast damage people doing well.

Just found the pics of the menite collosal, i think i might scrath-build it becuase of the price.

But using the proper materials and measurements to make it as cool as the real thing

When i first heard about the price i was going to scrath build the ones i ilked, but seeing this is just tempting me to cash out on the model

It looks strange to me, might be the angle. Maybe once I see one painted I'll change my mind.

I think the PP painting team will paint it based on the artwork.

The art makes it look like an oversized warjack with loads of armour plates

but seeing the model itself makes me love it even more
