I ran 1500p Tyranids against Tau today. Here was my list:

HQ
Tervigon /w Catalyst, Toxin Sacs

I liked the way it ran, but I'm thinking about taking out Termagants for Hormagaunts... Thoughts?

how did you use the trigons? personally i would only use the prime drop the fex and use more hormagaunts.

if you take termys then that there tervigon is a troops not a hq as far as i remember. ive never used a death leaper i generally only use the doom of malantai in a spore for my elites.

how do you usually use these guys? i personally thinks its good but would much prefer to use a tyrant to a fex

I don't currently own a Hive Tyrant, I have The Swarmlord and a Tervigon.

I really like the Deathleaper for his leadership reduction and reserve roll boosts. The dakkafex fared well against the tau, thinning out light infantry for me.

a fex has fear factor because of what it can do but ive played quite a few games with various types of fex and they have only ever been any good for me with a heavy venom cannon, its one of the few models i just cant get right but if you can make it work then cool. =)

would you consider using devil gaunts? they are quite nasty if you use a brood of 20, if you dropped the normal trigon you could use a brood of devil gaunts and a brood of hormagaunts it gives more numbers, wounds and attacks, which it a lot more intimidating than a normal trigon since it only has 6 wounds, if you deep strike it then its gonna get shot loads, if you field it and run like hell then its already on the table to be shot.

i use a prime and run it up beside my gaunts using 20 hourmagaunts and 20 termagants in front of them it gives a 20 wound wall of protection in front of my hourmys and with the prime on their flank its a tough decision to make between the 2 for target priorities..... oh and the primes synapse keeps all the gaunts in check and if you use the doom like me then by the time he comes in hes in range of the primes synapse

Keep the termagants as you have the Tervigon. Honestly though I'd get a hive tyrant and drop the dakkafex. It provides extra synapse if you want to include more gaunts.

I just finished building 2 boxes of Hormagaunts I need to convert up some warrior's into Hive Guard, or perhaps find some on bartertown, but if I get my hands on a few, I think my list may evolve into something like this:
