Hey there, I need help with rules on a new flyer I am making. Anybody willing to help?
It is based on an old 1/72nd scale Airfix Short Sterling bomber from WW2. I have converted it to be Imperial Navy.
It is armed with: 1 Multi-laser, 1 Lascannon,Twin-Linked heavy Bolters, Twin-Linked Autocannons, Storm-Bolter, Twin-Linked Plasma Guns and 2 Hellstrike Missiles.
Any help on a name and rules would be appreciated, thanks

You could call it the Bristler, because that seems like alot of guns. Is that too many? I can't really be of much help on this one.

Yh i would say that i should only have the heavy bolters the lascannon and the hellstrike missiles, other wise that model should have a pts value of 350!!

It doesn't look right without the other weapons, that's why they are on there.

Sounds a bit silly if you ask me: a WWII model with a few random weapons tacked on. I'd keep it to the TL Autocannon, Hellstrikes and maybe the Heavy Bolter

Having that variety of guns makes it able to do alot of things but not be as great at any of them than a more specialized unit. That would make it not as likely to exist, but i'm sure somewhere in the Imperium they have it.

It defintely uses the flyer rules from apocalypse/forge world. Saying that thing could hover is crap. Then again... do the ork bommers have rules that force them to go forward? idk, so i'm useless again.

I wasn't going to give it Hover Mode. Any help on the name then?

its a british design, and Short always named their aircraft after towns and villages, like sunderland or stirling so it could be the Short Hades or something....

I like the idea, and the models looks okay too,

i would say rather than having all the turrets guns having individual profiles perhaps group them all under one profile of a twin-linked heavy bolter that has a 360 degree firing arc.

I was thinking something like Spitfire...well, ok not exactly but something that's like that.

I like the idea of it, you could state that some to the weapons can only be used against other flyers. For instance the tail gun and the dorsal gunner wouldn't ever be able to fire at ground forces, and they would have the sky fire rules.

The flyer rules have it set up so you can fire up to four weapons at combat speed, so that would make sense with all the forward facing weapons. Since it was a bomber I would also pull the missiles and use it properly as a bomber.

Most flyers would be more symmetrical so I would have the two weapons on end of the wings be the same, and probably closer to the hull for big guns like that. (Personal opinion) I would expect the multi lasers since volume of fire would be more important then fine targeting with big weapons on a flyer.

Strikes me as more of a stay up high and bomb things then a diving to strafe the battlefield. So perhaps give it a special rule that allows it to drop two bombs as its flying per turn instead of one?

All in all I like the idea of using such models for 40k, especially with the large number of flyers that should be in this new edition.

That is too many confusing guns. I suggest a bit of standardization if you will. Eg. replace the autocannons with multi-lasers (still can be twin-linked), and the storm bolter and plasma guns with heavy bolters. Because honestly it seems like it will be annoying to deal with all those different guns shooting. Also from a fluff perspective the logistics would be mind numbing, 3 different caliber guns, plasma fuel cells, 2 missiles, and power packs or a converter for the lascannon and multi-laser, techpriests would call it heretical just so they won't have to deal with the maintenance.

If you look at the pics, Buttons, you can see tha it is almost physically impossible to replace the plasma guns and the storm bolter with Heavy bolters due to space restrictions.

Looted flyer, because thats the on;y place your find this configuration. Really, a PLASMA GUN!!!!

Yes, a plasma gun. Don't like it? Deal with it.
