I'm just about to get a necron army and I've got the codex, but I'm wondering what type of Necron Army I want..... I like the idea of a ''fast'' necron army by using wraiths and tomb blades supported by a couple of Night scythes in the air/ground, with a Triarch stalker butg a good amount warriors and lychguard. Maybe even a Tomb spyder to make my opponent panic ... any ideas? Flayed ones anything to invest in?

The first thing I always tell people to invest in is at least one if not two AnniBarge/CCB kits.

Not only are these 2 vehicles 2 of the best options in the codex (and some of the best priced!) you can play them as either and switch on the fly (just dont glue on the gun or the little console that the lord stands behind). You also get a free overlord to boot. For 34 bucks thats a damn good deal.

If you have no necron stuff at all the battleforce may also be a good option as you can get a good enough troops base to get your army started.

If you are going to w a fast necron army you want wraiths and scarabs as you well know but also possibly tomb blades...and spyders if you are going to run scarabs.

People will tell you FOs suck and are terrible...I like them but they are very difficult to use and dont always work out well...Id recommend starting w wraiths. And only buy FOs if you can find the old metal models...the new ones are just plain fail.

You may also want to use any extra warrior bodies you come across (along with any spare deathmark heads) to convert some of your own crypteks.

Not to worry, that block of chedder can be tied up easily with 30 boyz, can get his ass handed to him in a match with Ghazzy, and can be squigified with Zogwort. How satisfiying would that be? ....Squigfiston, Lord of gak...

I beat that price.

I'd recommend wraiths. They are not only good, they seem to be used no matter what type of necron army you decide to play.

Idk about tomb blades. There must be a reason people aren't using them. I've sold 1 since they came out.

I played Ordo Malleus since before it had a codex.

It's not that Tomb Blades are BAD, they just compete with Wraiths and Scarabs for the same FOC slot. Most lists prefer to take the Scarabs for vehicle hunting or the Wraiths for their flexibility. If your list is primarily shooty and you're taking some Triarch Stalkers, Tomb Blades may be a good investment for you. I think the best way to kit them out is without any of the wargear, and just swap out the guns for Particle Beamers. Nothing like 5 S6 Blasts to wipe out hordes or pile wounds on tough targets (TH/SS Terminators come to mind).

I agree that tomb blades have tough competition for their slot, but they are good enough to give pause to the decision. Armed with gauss and shadowlooms, they can zip around the board with impunity; trash light vehicles, Harrass Msu, and stun lock big armor; if they draw fire, it's not a big deal, but they'll almost always get where you need them to go.

That being said, the tomb blades are not a good purchase because you don't want to run them in any configuration other than groups of five, and that money is better spent on a unit you'll use more consistently.

From 1d4chan tactics (you said you're interested in Speed Cron so here ya go):

Speed Cron: Perhaps one of the strongest glass hammer lists in the game, this list focuses on using the fastest units possible in every. single. FOC slot. Put your Overlords in Catacomb Command Barges. For elite, either go with Triarch Praetorians with particle casters and voidblades, or stick a ton of Lychguard in Night Scythes. For troop, whether you bring Immortals, Warriors, or both, shove them into Nightscythes. Fast Attack, bring out the Tomb Blades for jet biking fun. Heavy Support, Doom Scythes. Your opponent will hate you for all the cover saves, warscythe drive by's, twin linked tesla weaponry, and S10 AP1 lines of death you'll be bringing to the battle.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.
