So do any Dakkanauts idly roll dice? I have 5 dice, 4 blue and 1 gold at my desk at work, in order to idly roll dice as a stress reliever.

If so, is there something you simulate most commonly? I generally shoot my Stormraven (TL Assault Cannon and TL Multimelta) at Terminators /w Storm Shield, just to see how many I can kill in one round of shooting. My personal best is 4.

What do you pretend to shoot with/at? Do you do it at all? If not, why not, it's fantastic!

I work in a "command center" environment - bunch of desks, no cubes. It works great for communication. The downside is that any little noise you make anyone hears. Rolling dice would be effing annoying to the 10 other people in the room.

I feel like if I was rolling dice at my desk all day my coworkers would hate me. My Transformers at my desk are good enough!

yes, usually when I'm surfing the web. The unit I roll for is usually a multi-melta vs. a land raider. melta range of course

I do sometimes if I'm fooling around with them. Never during a game. I find nothing more obnoxious.

It's definitely not limited to at work for me. For some reason I enjoy shooting assault cannons.... I also like shooting the Tau Cyclic Ion Blaster + Burst Cannon at Guardsmen/Orks

I have a needlessly large collection of dice. Between my good old days of playing D&D, my 14 years of playing magic (I still refuse to use countdown/stepdown die instead of REAL D20 for life), and my 8 years of playing 40k, I have at least; 12 dice tubes and 14 dice blocks each containing the standard array of d4 d6 d8 2 d10/d100 d12 and d20, four GW dice tins with all the d6s and scatter dice, 3 sets of stater box dice one from battle for maccragge and 2 from AoBR, and 5 of the big dice blocks of d6. Plus pouches and bags of assorted dice!
I almost always have dice on me, I even keep my lucky dice in my work and travel bags. I will usually use dice to make tough decisions with no real consequence either way, such as a d4 for which of these four movies should I watch, or a d6 for what I want for supper and so on.
I love rolling dice, and will roll them just for the fun of it, or to emulate situations. Such as shooting and wounding from different units(usually against MEQs), most recently I'm shooting Dakka preds.
To me rolling dice is like a stress ball. Taking 5 to play a mini game of yahtzee or other quick scoring dice games is a great way to suck the stress out of the middle of a work day.

Ive got some old Risk dice laying around. I often find myself rolling to see how unlikely something is. Such as, how many Tau Gun Drones does it take to kill a Carnifex in CC.

I knew I wasn't alone. I have a Crown Royal bag from a half gallon bottle just chock full of various die. There is no stress ball quite like a quick hand of 10,000 or an auto cannon and 2 heavy bolters versus a few boyz.

No. That would annoy other people. I prefer to do that with sarcasm.

When we're playing RPG's, it's also frowned upon. There are usually 7 people at the table. If all 7 were rolling dice or something else that made a lot of noise, it would be hard to concentrate on the DM. There's enough side conversations as it is.

While own, literally, hundreds of dice in all configurations (I even have a bucket of d2s and a couple of d3s), in an active game, I use a dice-simulator program on my laptop, having made the transition to digital for running games some years ago. All my NPCs, characters, scenarios, encounters, plot-twists, etc etc etc all in Excel and Word documents on my laptop (backed up to my PC, with revisions and saves on a thumbdrive).

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Never come to China. People literally walk up and start rolling YOUR dice ..... while you're playing!

The only thing I do with dice as a stress reliever or to kill some time is see how many I can stack with one flat as a base and another standing up, using the point on 1 die, sitting in the pip dot of the base. Then see how many I can do side by side until they fall over. Its kindda neat
