Hey all, will be attending a tournament at my LGS on the 30th, using 5th edition rules.

The tournament is set up where it's 3 rounds, and whichever units of yours that die in the first game stay dead for the second game, etc. Not sure if there's an official name for that.

So I thought breaking out my Tau might be cool, seeing as they either blow you to gak or get tabled. So here's my list, tell me whatchu think.

Sadly I don't have much income at the moment, or I would have picked up some more Crisis Suits/Broadsides. My Inner Wee.a.boo loves them mechs!

So anything I can do to make this list better? Would love to hear from you, Dakka...ites....

Demote to 'El, add Target Array (keeping BS5). This saves points for other things.

Now that the 'O got demoted, you can put Target Arrays on these clowns.

Other Elites are cool.

Square 'em all off to 9 each. There's a game mechanic in Morale Checks. It works out better.

Do I need to take out Seeker Missiles from both Devilfish or just one?

Can you explain how the Morale works? I know it has to do with percentages, haven't played in a while though so I'm rusty @_@

Thanks for the help!

You roll 2d6 and try to stay under your units best LD score. If you drop below 25% in the shooting phase, you are subject to a test, failure results in you running away (2d6 inches). If you are below 50% and fail you may not attempt to regroup, and the unit will continually run until they leave the board (counts as destroyed). The result is that if you're trying to save points, you want to bring the minimum number up just high enough to get that next man before 25% is reached.

The logic for suggesting you drop to 9 in each is flawed however. He 12 man squads are likely foots logging, and the 6 man squads are riding scorefish (pathfinders fish). In which case 2x6 and 2x12 is perfect, since the 12 man squads are exposed.

I wasn't figuring in the transports, so CJ is right. If they were all on foot, then four groups of nine is better.

Basically it takes 3 casualties to cause Morale, times four groups is 12 dudes.
Your set up is ... dang, 12, too. Huh. 4, 4 and 2 & 2 dead per crew.

Alright, I withdraw that entirely. Nevermind.
