I started Warhammer 40k in June with a small Chaos Army and built it up to be around 2500 Points and I also have a Necron Force of around 500ish and just this month I have been able to play but I have been starting to get quite bored of it. I have been thinking of doing a Pre-Heresy Luna Wolves but none of the people at the store know anything about the Horus Heresy so any Ideas for what I can do to get interested in 40k again?

Keep playing mate, you've spent enough money already, but getting another army won't help...although you could proxy a few armies instead.

Well for me 5th edtion became boring really fast. At least in 6 days, we will get the 6th edition. I am hoping this will make the game refreshing and will not get stale really fast like 5th edition became for me.
So give 6th editon a try. It sucks you have to buy a new rule set so soon, but this might make 40K fun again for you.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.
Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

^ 6th Edition is going to be a whole new ball game, so wait and give it a chance.
Also, something I find that makes any table top game better is the people you play with. The people I play with I have been playing with for years. So, we laugh, joke around and just generally have a good time. We rarely have disagreements and even if we lose, we still have fun because we enjoy each others company. The people you play with are a big part of your experience. So maybe the people you're playing with are kinda boring? Crack some jokes, order a pizza or grab a beer afterwords.

I think you should of thought it through more if you are already bored.
A 2500 point army isn't cheap.

seriously though.... try some new scenarios or playing against other players. a change in scenery and opponent can often respark interest.

yeah, i don't understand this either. didn't OP play any games before he reached 2500 worth of units to see if he liked the game?
are you losing a lot? i only ask because i started in May with a 1000 points worth of Tau and i lost, and lost, and lost and lost some more. basically, Tau is about 20% strategy and 80% lucky rolls. i won a single game with tau and tied another, the rest were losses. my record was something like 1-1-7 and i was just not having fun. i don't care how cool and funny my teammate is, if i'm not winning enough i'm not having fun. Recently i've switched to Blood Angels and Eldar and WOW, talk about a difference in experience. I have so much more fun with Eldar and Blood Angels and I've only lost a single game with BA due to a VERY noobie teammate.
the point i'm making is, maybe the armies you have just aren't your style. it's cool to build an army if you like their fluff(Tau) but i have way more fun playing an army that suits my play style.

Abhorrent Grotesque Aberration

When I first started playIng; I lost. A lot. To the point of nearly walking away.
Then I decided to actually learn the game and spent time reading tactics articles and figuring out why certain things worked and others didnt. I also entered a couple tournaments simply to see how the winners played, very educational. I even went so far to run "mathhammer" to see how various units might work. ( note: running numbers only gets you so far )
There is so much depth here, between theory and practice that the only way I can see someone getting bored is if they don't put any thought into it and just show up to roll some dice.

I started 40k in October/November of 1987.
I got bored of it in 1992.
I came back in 1997 and got bored of it again six months ago. Although, tbh, I'm not sure if it was the "quality" of the last few codices or the endless interminable arguments between players of those armies.
It's had its time, and I've moved on. 3/4 of my armies will still work for the other games I have in mind for them, so it's not a wasted 'investment' (and besides, the game might be to my liking in 7th ed and the other army might get a run then).
